When my 3 year old ruled the world
My son had flushed a block down the toilet,he was maybe 18 months old.We had to remove the toilet. Our hands were much to large to fit in the hole to remove the obstruction. It took bribing my 3 1/2 year old daughter to do it.

Even 3 year olds know how to bargain. She was a shrewd business woman. She requested a "Gem" doll for her efforts.Small price to pay,for her services.

I lost all reign of the household when she turned 3.Suddenly she had all the answers. What was best to have for lunch.Jellies were the best shoes ever. She was the only one that had taste when it came to cartoons, the care bears and my little pony.

She loved to argue.I'm still surprized she did not become an attorney.

Her favorite person to argue with was her Uncle Jim.Jim was 6'5" and over 400lbs.He was one big guy.( Jim passed away in 2005)Heather had no fear of him,she felt obligated to give him a run for his money daily.

They had an argument over the tv.Him being the adult he was (we called him baby Hughie)wanted to watch G.I. Joe,Heather wanted to watch my little pony. Now, hes arguing with a 3 year old.She stands infront of the tv and turns it off."No! this is my tv Jimmy".Of course he looses, there was no hope.Jim looks to me for help.I tell him "dont look at me I am at my limit of arguments for the day".This was almost a daily occurrence .Watch yourself around a 3 year old.

She had a good eye.My other brother in law Chris came out for a visit,he brought 2 friends along.Chris was gay so were his friends(Chris passed away in 96')The only reason I bring that up is that what I am about to say next wouldn't make sense unless you knew that. Were having dinner,my daughter looks over at me and blurts out "Why is Uncle Chrissy like a girl?"She's 3 and has again knocked me for a loop. There was dead silence around the table all I could think of to say was "Yes Heather Chrissy is a girls name too".She was satisfied with my answer, she didn't ask any more questions. Not only can 3 year olds bargain and argue, they also notice differences.

There were times I thought I might pull every hair out of my head.As with most parent/child relationships you hit a lot of bumps in the road.We had a few major bumps, that just comes along with life.I am happy to report that she has grown into a wonderful woman. She is kind and considerate what more can a Mother ask for?For me to have a few extra years of her childhood, she grew up much too quickly.

You might be Heather is 25.She loved her gem doll, that doll had the biggest head. She loved her Jellies,we called her Imelda Marcos she had such a love of shoes. The time goes so fast,it doesn't seem it's been as long as it has.I am happy that they are grown up I just miss them being small, when they thought I was a big meanie, lol.
