Trick or treating with Dad
I have trick or treating on the brain today.Must be the cadbury robin eggs I forced myself to buy.

Most times my Dad was grumpy we made a point to stay out of his way.Sometimes he was so much fun. When he was fun he was really fun.

Halloween 1974 I was 10 and was to take my 5 year old brother trick or treating. My brother has his spider man costume on.I am dressed up like an old lady.I have a gray wig on,eyebrows had been grease painted white, black velvet dress, borrowed shoes from my grandma, pearl necklace and sensible handbag.

My Dad decides he wants to go.We say "Dad you need to dress up".And dress up he did.My Dad looks like a cross between Don King and  troll.Mom teases his curly hair,he rips up an old tshirt squirts vampire blood all over it.Uses Moms eye shadow to paint eyes on his eyelids and a big eye on his belly button,Dad has an outie. He asks me for one of my dolls, pulls the head off ties a piece of ripped up tshirt around the dolls hair and wears it like a necklace. He decided he was a head hunter.

He decides he is going to trick or treat for beer. The neighbors all know him,so it is not a problem. We had more fun going door to door that night. We got candy,Dad got beer to keep his strength up.I can still see him hollering "Hey....Hey....Hey....I'm only here for the beer".I have to say that was one of my favorite Halloweens.

Holidays were the best especially Christmas, something about the holidays always changed my Dads attitude,it was nice.I'll leave it with that,it was just nice.

That is a classic dad story. Thank you for sharing it. My dad was always much, much more reserved.
