 People watching at concerts......
Went to see Roger Waters last summer....was a big deal to my better half....interesting mix of people. The two guys sitting behind us we dubbed "the old school guys".....Those two were pretty excited to be there....smoking dope and yelling.....their hooting and hollering reminded me of some beer drinkers.. Ever notice that the more beer some people drink the louder the become?.....I have to admit these two were funny....When Roger started playing another brick in the wall.....these two dopers yelled out "YEAAHHH.....OLD SCHOOL MANNNNN"....yelling the words to the song....pretty funny...I can't remember a time when a pair of concert goers caught my attention more then the show. Was a good show got to hear some of my favorites....the people watching was fun too....love to people watch.

There were some "dead heads" in their tie died t shirts, cut off short, birkenstocks, with long beards and the balding hair in a pony tail......Wasn't a Greatful Dead show I think they were just paying their respects....A few in wheel chairs.....rock on guys!.....girls that had probably never heard of Pink Floyd (thought maybe he was a new fashion designer) dressed in stilleto heels, cracks sticking out of their jeans, boobs about busting forth from their shirts....they were either escorts or on dates with boyfriends that knew who Roger Waters was through an older brother. Some preppies thrown in for good measure blazing in their Tommy Hilfiger short sleeve golf shirts.Mostly there were folks my parents age....smoking dope and rocking out.....I did actually see 2 guys in suits....now that was weird.....Not bathing suits.....3 piece suits.....again weird....unless they were drug dealers....that makes sense!.....As I said I'm a people watcher...I try to determine what they do for a living....how they live.....if thats really that guys wife or his mistress....keeps me amused.

I followed my girl Patty Griffin on tour lastyear.....was so much fun....Something I would of done in my younger days if I hadn't been married or had children....First was D.C. at the Warren theater...I don't recommend driving in D.C......well.....I have a terrible sense of direction....I wouldn't be able to find my way out of a paper bag....I'll just say me and one way streets will not ever be friends....yes...I am one of the idiots thats gone the wrong way down a one way street....I feel the humiliation all over again....I was from out of town....sheesh....Anyhoo...I introduced my friend to my favorite singer....absolutely love Patty!....Had a great time....met some nice folks....the first of many enjoyable shows.....love that gal....for anyone interested you can go to  www.pattygriffin.net  I have tried to download her on podcasts....wont accept the files I have.Would love to share her music on here....

Next was Portland Maine at South Portlands high school auditorium....another road trip....so much fun...this time no wrong turns down a one way street.....I had been to portland before....so I did ok....not perfect......but OK......another great show....I'd follow her to Tim Buck TWO......listen to her daily....Then it was back to Philly......she opened for John Prine.....The John Prine fans ticked me off....I love John ......couldn't wait to see him.....I was there to see Patty.....The concert goers were mostly old hippies and red necks....I didn't know philly had any....must be out of towners....Johns fans were rude.....wandering around....during Pattys set.....if I would of had a paintball gun there would of been a ton of marked people...oh well....poop on them...a big giant, ginormous poop on them.....

This past January saw her in Pittsburgh....my favorite show to date....was called 3 girls and their buddy.....Buddy Rich,Emmylou Harris,Shawn Colvin and yes....Miss Patty.....best seats i had to date....4th row from the stage......and directly across from Patty.....slap my ass and call me Sandy i was a happy camper....though too chicken to go meet her out back.....I could've, I just let my panic get the best of me.....maybe its better this way....to admire from afar?...Though I would love to play with her....guitar that is....The show was fantastic....I was brought me to tears a few times(Tims Mom as well)....its hard to listen to her music without feeling it......

She came out with a new album last year.....you would of swore I was her promoter....I even made my kids go see her.....Not make them....I told them get out there and support her....and they did.....My daughter saw her in Seattle.....my son in Illinios....funny thing is ......they introduced me to her music...I am thankfull they did.....If you are not familiar with her....try her out....if you are already a Patty fan....then you already know what I mean....

Heres one of my favorites....unfortunately its unreleased.....her fans are good for recording her shows and passing the music along.....if you have lime wire.....lots of Patty on there...videos on youtube as well.

Under these clouds by Patty Griffin

She says I deserve much better than this
It's getting pretty plain to see
She tells her boss,"here's my butt,
Why don't you give it a kiss-
You got all you're gonna get outta me"
Twenty years ago in typing class
Graduation day to pave the way
Nothing to show but a life moving too fast
And a fear of almost everything
And a fear of almost everything

But they say get down under these clouds
I was born down under these clouds
So I stand up and sing it out loud
Someone's still alive under their shroud
And I don't wanna die
Under these clouds

Her momma tried real hard not to pass the day along
And thats all her Momma did before that
Somewhere, some day,
Someone'll sing this song
And how everything good goes bad
And it really was a gradual thing
Passes easy as a cigarette
You wake up one day wrapped up in a ball of string
Believing nothing good's happened to you yet
Feel like nothing good's happened to you yet

But they say get down under these clouds
I was born down under these clouds
So I stand up and sing it out loud
Someone's still alive under their shroud
And I don't wanna die
Under these clouds
