Sometimes riding the train is like a mini adventure. I am not a Philadelphia native, I was born in Germany my Mother is a Berliner, my Dad a Wisconsinite. After moving to the states we spent some time in Virginia than Pennsylvania before my Dad was discharged from the service.

I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, I still feel the state name should be changed to "Hades" and the state motto should be "clothing optional, don't forget your sunscreen". Good grief Az gets hot, beautiful state....just hotter than blazes....

From Phoenix the hubby, kids and I moved to Washington, rural area along Puget Sound...loved it....Divorce finds me back in Pennsylvania...kind of funny how you can end up back to where you almost started....I digress....trains...

Since moving to Pa I have learned about public transportation. In Phoenix, you have buses thats about it. In western Washington you have ferry's. In Philly and surrounding areas you have buses and trains. I love the trains, always characters on the train. It's like going to the circus without the peanuts and popcorn. Some of the riders sound and even look like wild animals. For a gal that loves small town living, wino's are like a trip to the mental health ward. People watching on trains is almost as much fun as people watching in Atlantic city.

Everytime we get visitors they want to go into the city. Good grief, off to the city we go. If I go to the art museum one more time, I swear I will vomit on the steps. I do however love South street. Its funky full of bars and restaraunts , tattoo parlors and my favorite store ever! The condom kingdom! This store is a hoot, wind up walking weiners, assorted "bedroom recess' paraphenalia and gag gifts. If its odd or makes you say WTF they have it. Funny store, anything you could possibley want to embarrass another human being...

After a day in the city with Tims folk, we have had enough of fun in the sun in Philly. Time to go home and ride the rails... As we are getting ready to board theres this black couple. The woman is pushing a stroller with two other kids in tow along with her other half. Shes very loud, I'm assuming that maybe she had a bad day. The man with her looks like he wants to be anywhere other than here. Anyway, Tim and I are in one seat, his folks are across the aisle. We are facing forward. Behind us a commotion is taking place. Its the couple with the stroller and two kids. Apparantly the man had said something she didn't like. At this time Tims folks are staring straight ahead scared shitless, Tim and I are giggling, and Tim starts to impersonate this woman which makes me laugh harder. This lady says to her man "You betta shut up, for I shove my toenail down your throat and cut it up"!!!! Then the baby starts crying...she says "Whats the matter baby? Your Daddy's just an asshole"!

Ok....We both lost it....Tim did a pretty good impersonation of her, he had the head nods and everything. His folks are still looking ahead WIDE EYED. Us two had turned into laughing idiots. The more Tim would repeat the "toenail" rant the louder I laughed. I tell you, my side ached, i started coughing and I had tears streaming down my face. Damn that Tim. I swear he was trying to kill me with laughter.

I really enjoyed public transportation that day. Long live "toenail" lady!!!
