Hello universe
I am a single 55 year old woman with three children and one grandchild. I have a job as a social worker with adult clients who have developmental disabilities. I have a nice job. I'm very happy right now to be single, because finally, after years of fighting with men with way too many issues, I can do what I want when i want. Now, if i can just get my adult children to stop nagging.
I have read so many books in my life its hard to read another but occasionally a goodnovelishard to put down. i recently reread half of pride and prejudice during a short vacation, but havent gotten back to picking it up.
I am addicted to Euro movies, brit movies and television series, but other wise a movie either has to be complicated like the da vinci code, or have really good acting for me to take an interest. i like mysteries especially.
I love animals and I support all envirionamentally progressive groups as best as i can afford to. I'll sign a petition any day of the week. I will always vote progressive, left liberal-ish, but wont always vote. I hope any democrat wins next time, however, bec. the repubs are destroying so much with their madness.
I am against all wars and do not believe that going to war can ever solve a problem. I feel very sorry for the vets, but on the other hand, they have chosen their fate.
I used to read a lot of poetry, especially in my youth and wrote a fair amount. but havent recently. I've been working slowly on writing a cookbook. I can't decide whether to make it all vegetarian. Im not really a vegatarian, but have tried to mostly eat that diet to lower cholesterol and get healthy.
I hate the term boomer and the other terms xyz etc because generations do not mean what they once did. My being against the Vietnam war wasnt just for fun.
I speak a few languages, including Francais, Espanol, Portuguese and a smattering of a few others, such as Navajo(dine) and German. I have been to Europe once, Mexico a few times, Canada once, and would love to travel again with someone. If anyone knows some travel groups for college educated folks, that are interesting and not trite, let me know.
I have been trying some new things recently, painting for one. My daughter liked my painting for christmas- mountains and a lake in front in odd colors. I love impressionist painting, but who doesnt?
I have two dogs, a half chihuahua and a cattle dog-red aussie. they would love to have a big yard, but cant afford that right now. so we go for walks when its not so cold as it is now.
I also have a couple of turtles-red eared sliders and am a new member of a turtle club. we do rescue work and participate in conservation work, like tree planting. 
I also have some birds. whatever.
i also love gardening, but dont have a yard after divorce lost me my house. so ive been doing container planting and a little bit on the small apt yard here. i convinced my landlord to stop using pesticides for now. hope he keeps believing me about it.
