| #6 My Day From Hell |
|
I promised myself that I was going to try and focus on the positivity in my life and not the negative, but I think I'm entitled to a bad day every now and then. And as a female, I'm entitled to complain about it.
I was originally supposed to be off of work today, but I picked up an extra shift since one of the other secretaries is on vacation and I could use the extra money. My CNA interview was scheduled for 1:00 and I was to work from 11a-7p. Not only did I have a difficult time getting out of bed (and was late to work for it), but on the way there I received a call from my Aunt Patty that my grandfather passed away this morning around 9a. That wasn't a great way to start the day and I was a little pissed off that I received the news from my aunt and not my mother. My mother's wackiness is something I will save for another blog and different day.
I wasn't on the unit for very long before I had to leave for my interview. The weather was warm, which brightened my day for a little bit. I thought the interview went very well. I'm just a little stressed over the fact that there is only room for 24 people in the course and they had over 100 some applicants. That is a lot to compete with! This is such a good opportunity so I'm going to pray that it's meant to be and I get in.
So, after the walk back to my building, I got inside and saw that there was brown stuff down the side of my right sleeve. Some bird decided that it was going to take a shit on me! (Haha...) Fortunately, I had a dress shirt in my car and changed out of my other poopy sweater. I was feeling pretty run down and needed a pick me up so I decided to take a break to get a coffee from my work coffee bar. All I had was a $100 bill, so I went to our cafeteria to break it since the coffee bar doesn't accept anything larger than a $20 and the cafeteria does. Well...the cashier working the cafeteria refused to break my $100 bill unless I bought $5 worth of stuff that I didn't even want. So, I really ended up spending about $8 just to get a coffee. By that point, I was pretty ready to call it a day, but I went back to my unit anyway. When I got back to the unit, the other secretary knocked my coffee over onto the floor and it spilled everywhere. As much as I wanted to burst into tears out of frustration, I couldn't help laughing. What were the odds that so many bad things could happen in a row that quickly? My patience was really being tested today.
I should hear back around Friday (the interviewer hopes) about whether I was accepted into the program. I'm really counting on it, because getting in determines how much longer I will be living in Maryland until I move to Delaware. Say a prayer for me, please!
