New Halloween bisque - Skull and Skullies - Dimensions are 12.5" tall x 5" wide x 3.5" deep. Unpainted price @ $10. Very easy to paint. Here's how the painting went. Wipe piece down with damp sponge or papertowel to remove any dust in the cracks and crevices. Two coats of black paint on the cape and bottom. Two coats of an off white color on the skulls. Let dry thoroughly and antique with light grey. After antiquing has dried, I drybrushed the cape with black and the skulls with the off white color. I then proceeded to dry brush the eye sockets, nose and mouth cavities with a really dark grey almost black color. I then floated some black with my brush coated in JoSonja's Magic Mix along the edges of the skull teeth. Then using Decoart Americana Asphaltum I drybrushed around the edges of the eyesockets, cheeks and random teeth. Asphaltum gives a rotted teeth, dirty old look which is great for this Halloween piece. Using a extra fine liner brush, the Magic Mix and some black paint, I added in some extra cracks in the skulls. Next I coated with JoSonja's Clear Glazing Medium and seal my work. Then I coated the whole thing twice with JoSonja's Matte Varnish. I slip slapped the varnish on with a brush making sure to get every bit of the surface covered. This piece is a definite hit as everyone who walks into my studio says they like him.
