Most the young in china are not inner-directed
As we youngs are taught by the collectivism they are fear about doing something not popular but is absolutely right. They excuse by saying peer pressure .

They said if they have done something right for example obey the traffic rule ,but friends around them wont do like that ,he would be kick out ,whats more ,he would more likely to be treated as a abnormal person .Their parents may also warn them to obey the social rules. But in otherwise their parents also told them to perform like a inner-directed person is not wise, and if you want to adapt this world you should behave the same as your friends around you.

It directly result in that serious problem:althoug we may full of energy ,if most of people around us dont go out for physical exercise then we wont do that ,although we feel drained,if most people around us go out for party we will certainly follow them without hesitation .This generation raised in china have almost lose their ability to judge whatever they should do and whatever they cant do themselves. They just follow blind .

The question annoy me so much, because what I am behaving make my parents angry since i cannot bear people around me who break the traffic rule,to be selfish, with bad manner......I just can't help holding it in my mind. So i put it down here for help.

I am sorry to hear that you apparently live in a society that does not think for themselves, but rather follows the lead of what is popular. But then, although I'm living in Shanghai, I'm not truly experiencing what it feels like to be Shanghainese, but rather just being in the background and observing quitely. But furthermore, I don't think it's only China's young people who are not inner-directed. From my readings of popular modern-day novels, I think that even high-school Americans follow the "popularity" thread, and do what is popular instead of what is right.

I completely support your view.

Most students in china even dont know what they are pursuing or what they should pursue. What they could do is just follow the trend of public even that trend doesn't fit to him.Maybe they miserable, but they will actually live a normal life than those who try to break the rule to be a inner-directed person.

What is so good about being normal? My dad's always saying how university students in China are just choosing subjects that would be most beneficial when searching for a job, not what would satisfy themselves the most.
