I enjoyed reading this. It expresses my frustration but from the other side of the fence. Most of my friends want to talk all the time. Silence seems awkward to them but I enjoy quiet companionship much more than constant chatter. I guess I had better smarten up.

It sounds like your parents never received love growing up and are not capable of giving love. Don't try to earn their love as they don't have it to give. They may even try to discourage you from doing well in school because education is way you can leave them and they would lose control over...
