Spring is lurking somewhere around the corner I hope. We get hints of it now and again and then it disappears into cold winds and sputtering rains. Today it's in the 70's and is beautiful and the weekend is looking promising, but then it is predicted that we will cool down again. What a tease!
But I am not to be dismayed for in 7 days I will be in Hawaii. I am so looking forward to the rest, beauty, adventure and change of scenery.
I did a blunder of ginormous proportions, however, by planning all this coming and going during "the queen's" birthday. I will try to repent and make it up to her this weekend. Her mom is helping me with my penance by having a family celebration in which we will lavish her with royal presents, eat a lot of sugar, and be amazed at her every word. (And that's a lot of words!) She is a unique delight to me. Long live the queen.
To make it even worse, I will be coming back the day of the Mother's Day Tea on the red-eye special so that she will probably miss that as well. I am in so much trouble. She's the girly-girl of the family (altho she is also quite the jock!) and she loves all the fluff and lace and estrogen at this affair. Tammy and I go just to watch her have such a good time, 'cause we're not into all that. Well, I hope I haven't traumatized her too much. She's still my favorite (and only) granddaugther.
Oh, on her actual birthday, after my traitorous departure, she and mom and best friend will have a spa day, so don't feel too sorry for the poor child. |
