I survived my first week in accounting. I know just enough to know how much I don't know. I also know I am capable of doing the work, it's just that the learning curve is so huge! Patience, grasshopper. It will all come in due time. It has been a humbling week.
Tonight my husband and I are going to the Marine Corps Ball. We met while we were both Marines, but have never been to the Marine Corps Ball. It is celebrated on the birthday of the Marine Corps each year. Duane is a chaplin with the Redding Police Department, as well as an assistant pastor at our church, so the fellow Marines on the police department have asked him to attend and pray the blessing before dinner. He was quite honored. He is not only a Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine), but a retired police officer, so he "wears a lot of hats." So it has come to pass, that I will don a dress and heels and all my finery and accompany him to dinner and dancing in honor of the Corps. Oooorah! It should be an interesting and delightful evening.
Monday is Veteran's Day here in the United States, and in light of the Marine Corps birthday and the holiday to honor those who have served our country in the military, I want to especially remember those who are currently in harm's way. No matter your politics, it must be admitted that these young men and women are making a sacrifice and laying it on the line for the sake of others. They are to be commended, supported, and honored. I salute you! Thank you for your service.
