I just saw a show about a couple who were newlyweds and were very unhappy, and it was like a portrait of what life with him would have been like. The guy was not working, taking some courses which he was not working hard at, and all he did was hang out with friends and buy records. The girl worked to make the money, came home and did all of the chores and managed the whole house.
It's easy to look at that show and be like "wow, that guy is a loser." He is just too immature to be married and to be a good husband. My ex was just like that guy. Yes, he is a lot younger, but he had no intention of getting more mature. He would always be selfish. He would always care more about a lacrosse game or a night out with friends than he would about making things work with me.
I don't want to be mean, and I still love him, but in all honesty I don't need to be with a loser. I can do so much better than him... and I will once I'm ready.
