Guys are often commitment phobes. They say something in the heat of the moment that they mean (ie I love you) but then freak out at the thought of commitment and forever, and pull away.
Best analogy every: men are like elastic bands - they only stretch so far, being all lovey dovey, and then they snap back and need to be all cool again.

I still love Britney Spears too! I used to live on cookie dough, but now I've switched to Half Baked by Ben and Jerry's - half cookie dough half brownie!

I wouldn't really consider that a shoe fetish... it merely reflects the fact that a woman's choice in footwear often reflects a lot about her. Sexy shoes = sexy woman. Plus shoes are a lot easier for a woman to be expressive with than clothing is.
As per the mom thing - I have this weird thing where whenever I see a pregnant woman or woman with babies I think about the fact that she had to have sex to get there. Not really anything graphic, but it's just weird to know that this complete stranger was having sex for SURE some time x months ago, and the whole world knows it.
