Wow?!
I had previously watched one of the early Republican debates and ALL of
the candidates seemed prepared, worldly, informed, educated, intelligent,
and charming. I just watched the CNN Republican debates and ALL of the
candidates had problems:
1) Hunter, Paul, and Tancredo seemed like ninnies. They sounded more
like lobbyists than candidates seeking a consensus-backing of the
American people. I think they are desperate because at earlier debates
they were much more business-like, logical, and persuasive, rather than
the argumentative, rattled bunch they have become.
2) Huckabee pandered to the religious crowd and, don't get me wrong, I AM
really impressed he has a theological degree on a personal level, but
in a candidate for President, SO WHAT?! The best soldiers and statesmen
can fight with the best of them, then drink them under the table. You
don't have to be Johnny Innocent to be the Prez.
3) Thompson and McCain looked, well, OLD. Not that there is anything
wrong with that. I am no spring chicken, but, then again, I am not
running for President. I supposed it is more of an energy thing. I
remember President Ronald Reagan. God Bless Him! He was always
full of energy, vim and vigor. Thompson and McCain looked like they
needed a fresh pint of blood.
4) Finally, Mitt, well, his hair is a little too coiffed. I think he has decided he
DESERVES to be President. He let his belief in his superiority show
on TV. His condescending tone was embarrassing. Plus, I don't know
if he has really thought out the stances that he is taking. He said no
to abortion, but then waffled and said he'd let the states decide. Well,
I'm a Republican living in liberal California. I guarantee, Our State will choose to keep abortion....
Imagine the sicko vacation scenario: "Get your figure back and your
tan back, all in the same trip! Come to sunny California!" Imagine abortion-vacations!
Although I am a Republican, I have to admit, since I am a guy, I don't
want any part of telling women what to do with their bodies. I figure, with
the privilege of "choice" some people will choose to avoid offending God and choose to have their
baby. Of course, some won't make that choice and instead abort their pregnancy.
That's their choice. Since when is that MY problem? People have guns.
We don't ban guns totally. Some people choose to use guns lawfully.
Some don't make that choice and, instead, kill people...but we still have guns, right?
Yes, of course, the response is that the innocent baby doesn't have a choice. Yes,
but they didn't choose to be conceived either. (And, by the way, in the history of the
world, even post-partum abortions occurred--see SPARTA and the AZTECs and
other cultures for that, so chill.) Yes, abortion is disgusting, but the question is
whether it should it be criminal? I don't know the answer to that question because I am a guy.
Since I don't know, I am not going to decide. Western Civilization will not fall on this issue.
Anyway, the Republicans better recapture their class and business-like
demeanor or people won't see them in the mold of Republicans. Weirdo
Independents behave like this. Yes, they get votes, but they don't get
the consensus votes needed to win.

I totally agree with you Paul. And to be honest with you, I could care less if Rudy decided to root for the red sox instead of the yanks during the world series or that the Yanks haven't won a world series since he has been out of office. Is THAT really going to help with the important issues at hand?

Yeah, I did forget to mention Rudy. He
was a little better than the others, BUT he was way too casual. RUDY you're running for PRESIDENT, not of the Rotary Club, but instead, the U.S.A !!
