| Boston Celtics PLAYED the Lakers
|
|
|
Everyone is saying Boston is way better than the Lakers. Congratulations to Boston on
their victory for sure. However, what beat the Lakers was their slavish allegiance to the
triangle offense. Boston was pressuring Kobe all during the finals series. Ordinarily this would
free up other Lakers to shoot baskets. THAT DID NOTĀ HAPPEN. Why? Well, Kobe had to
successfully pass the ball to the open Lakers first. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. Why? Boston
realized that the other Lakers would stay in their triangle setup instead of coming out of
the triangle to help out Kobe. RESULT? Kobe had to make long passes which were
picked off. In fact, whoever brought the ball up the floor had to make long passes which
were easily picked off. SOLUTION?? The Lakers needed to come out of the triangle and
shorten their passing distance. This would have pulled the Celtics away from the paint
and allowed Kobe to drive to the basket. After several easy scores, the Celtics would have
to concede the triangle to the Lakers rather than risk easy drives to the basket. The Lakers
lost because EVERYONE knows they use the triangle offense. The Celtics merely planned
for the Lakers to slavishly stay in that configuration, they closed all the pass angles, and the result?
LAKES LOOKED MIGHTY STUPID. I say looked stupid, but ithe cause was simply not being flexible
in their offense. Hopefully for the Lakers, their offensive coordinators might realize:
BOSTON PLAYED THE LAKERS.
