The latest word is the Rick Dutrow, trainer of Big Brown is now blaming Kent Desormeaux for
The Belmont catastrophe. WRONG. This year I decided to watch every single Triple Crown
prep race and any other now prep races which the contenders participated. Hour after hour, video
after video. Was it worth it? I don't know, but I really got to know the horses and their normal look
when approaching the gate, loading, and running once the race starts. Why is this relevant???
Well, as the horses were being led to the gate last Saturday, I told my friend, "Hey, something is
not right with Big Brown. He usually looks more dominant and more energetic. He looks tired.
Then, when the race started, on the first turn, I told my friend, "Hey, something is wrong, his
stride looks all wrong." So, BEFORE anyone else was aware of it, it was clear to me Big Brown
was off. LATER, Kent Desormeaux said he knew ON THE FIRST TURN that Big Brown was not
right. Now realize, if I could tell this from watching the TV, Rick Dutrow had to had see something
too. I say BS to Rick Dutrow's comment. He is deflecting attention from where it ought to be,
THE TRAINER. Rick Dutrow is trying to make Kent Desormeaux look as if he screwed up when
to anyone who spent time watching Big Brown could tell he looked tired, not dominant, and
his stride was off on the first turn. As for finding something out, ISN'T IS CLEAR??? Big Brown
was exhausted from having to run so hard races in such a short amount of time. In the Florida
Derby this year he won from a post position no other horse has ever won from, by being outside
running father that any horse in that race had to run. Big Brown was tired of running and probably
all the doting that the public and news reporters heaped on him. Let the horse get some rest
and he will probably make a great comeback....just don't blame Kent.
