| You and I |
The night is a celestial honeycomb,
emblazoned with star specked skies,
moon becoming a brilliant saucer
spilling silvery light upon your face.
Your body beckons, naked; inviting,
caressing a hastily thrown blanket
where crickets perform an opera,
and birds of the night, an aerial ballet.
Across the farmland meadow’s lushness,
cattle low from distant swale,
yet not a sound is heard
above the breath of anticipation.
Quintessentially transported to another time,
we leave this earth behind;
summer lovers,
become children
of the universe.
