Coming out of the Closet...and right out the front

Today I told my parents I am a lesbian. They didn't take it so well.
First...
"You don't look like a lesbian."
My parents live in the generation where lesbians are all butch manly woman with short hair and broad shoulders. Either that or prison inmates.
OF WHICH I AM NEITHER...
Then...
"If this is some sick ploy to get our attention it isn't gonna work."
They thought that I was saying it so they would give me what I want or be a prima donna. NOT SO. I just want to be able to bring a girl home and not have to pretend she is "JUST A FRIEND"
Later...
"It is a sin against our religion"
"You disgust me"
"What is wrong with you?"
AND THEN THE KICKER
the statement to end all statements
"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!!"

So now I've been cut off and cut out of the life I had always known.
So much for the truth will set you free.
AIN"T NOTHIN FREE ABOUT IT!!!

I'm sorry for you that your parents are so narrow minded that they treated you this way. I hope & pray that they will wake up to themselves and realize you're their daughter and you need them because they're the only parents you'll ever have.

I'm so sorry that your family is unable to accept you for who you are. I've found that things get better with time, and maybe they'll come around.

but for now, all you can do is bust your ass to prove that you dont NEED them. yes, it's hard, but you can do anything you set your mind to.

I'm living proof of that. :)
