| Chase-ing A Dream |
October 22, 2008
Tampa, FL -- Chase Utley hit an early two-run homer as the Phillies beat Tampa Bay, 3-2, to take Game One of the World Series. Utley's two-run shot off the Rays' Scott Kazmir in the first inning was his second of the postseason (and the fourth allowed by Kazmir in the playoffs). Starter Cole Hamels pitched seven strong innings, allowing two runs. He struck out five and walked two. Carlos Ruiz drove in what turned out to be the game-winning run in the fourth inning with a groundout. Brad Lidge, in the midst of a perfect season (48-for-48 in save opps.), pitched a perfect ninth for the save.
