                There is None so Blind...

      Look at me- LOOK AT ME! you will not- can not turn away this time.  You who have wealth and power, you who have looked  at me so many times.. and never seen me.. this time you WILL see the damage you have done.
       I stand above the graves of all who died without a name; and those whose name was neglect.. the ones with damaged minds that no one claimed; who died of AIDS, and Hepatitis from a dirty needle: those for whom a drugged death was better than the life they lived: those in Urban Ghettos who were dying the day they were born; those who died along the Rio Grande...
       And I am the spirit of all who tried so hard to give their children a future.. who starved so they could have more of the crumbs from your table. they cleaned your floors and ironed your clothes and cooked your food.. they served you in a hundred ways. And what did they get in return?
         "Welfare Queens.." "lazy Sluts.." let them work like we had to.." "go back to your own country.. " 'God is punishing you for your lifestyle.."
         AND EVERY WORD THREW ACID IN MY FACE. the burns are streaked with tears you made them weep..
        " I'm voting no. we pay too much already..." "that's a legitimate deduction.."  "I'm entitled.."  EVERY TIME YOU KEPT WHAT YOU COULD HAVE GIVEN YOU PUT THESE SCARS UPON MY OUTSTRETCHED  HAND.
       And because there was no place for them in your healthcare system, no needed medication-- I have lost my sight. your indifference to their needs has blinded me. but still I see far better than you.. I am blind because I cannot see.. but  there is light within my soul. You are blind because you Will not see.. and your soul is dark as death..
       but you WILL see me now.. for I will haunt you all your days...
