We are in a war
Ephes. 6:11-12 (NLT)
Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. [12] For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.
The spiritual mafia is after you it is made up of demons from different levels of the spiritual world. You need to be preparing for the war that we are in every day.
1. Belt of truth-john 14:6
a. John 14:6 (NLT)
b. Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
c. Application – Satan fights with lies and they sound like the truth but are counterfeits, but only Christians that have the truth are able to distinguish the lies.
d. God has called us to live in truth and not in a life of lies.
i. 2 Thes. 2:8-11 (NLT)
ii. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. [9] This evil man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. [10] He will use every kind of wicked deception to fool those who are on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe the truth that would save them. [11] So God will send great deception upon them, and they will believe all these lies.
e. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood

2. Shoes of peace-Gal. 5:22
a. Galatians 5:22 (NLT)
b. But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce his fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
i. It is very important to have peace in our lives it is a fruit of the Spirit- Shalom= is tranquility of mind, freeing one from worry and fear.
c. Application- the devil wants us to think that people do not want the things of God and that to reach the world is such a big task that we should give up. The shoes give us the peace and we move forward in the Lord to reach the world for Jesus. We do not give up or lose heart. Jesus said “my peace I give unto you.”
d. Too many Christians do not have the peace of God and they are always wondering when God is going to help them.
e. Against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, but Eph. 1:20-23 says that they are under Jesus feet and we are His body therefore they are under our feet.
3. Shield of faith-Heb. 11:6
a. Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)
b. So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
c. Application – the devil tries to attack us with insults and lies they are like arrows but having the shield stops these arrows dead. The Roman soldiers carried a shield that protected their whole body in battle.
d. Our faith needs to be strengthening every day –because faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God. Rom. 10:17
e. against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world
4. Helmet of salvation-act. 4:12
a. Acts 4:12 (NLT)
b. There is salvation in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them."
c. Application – the devil wants us to doubt God, like he told Eve “did God really say you must not eat the fruit…” . He knows that if we trust God we will never lose our hope.
d. Our salvation is free, Jesus paid for it- the helmet covers our head to keep us remembering that this is not our home. 1Cor. 15:19 “if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
e. against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.
5. Sword of the spirit-Luke 11:28
a. Luke 11:28 (NLT)
b. He replied, "But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice."
c. Application- this is the only offense, and when we are tempted we need to take the offense by reading, meditating and memorizing the word of God.
d. The sword which is the word of God is the only weapon of offense. Because it is quick and powerful… Heb. 4:12-13.
Are you wearing the full armor of God right now? If you are not then you are not dressed for the battle and we are in a great battle against evil. The souls of men and women are at stake but some of us are so shallow that if the devil blows our way he knocks us down.
2 Cor. 10:4-5 (NLT)
We use God's mighty weapons, not mere worldly weapons, to knock down the Devil's strongholds. [5] With these weapons we break down every proud argument that keeps people from knowing God. With these weapons we conquer their rebellious ideas, and we teach them to obey Christ.
