Just stay calm
Exodus 14:13-14
13 But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14 The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
The words ‘stay calm’ are used for the word ‘hold’ in the KJ and that word means to ‘not speak a word’, be silent, to let alone, hold your tongue and be a like an graven image. The Greek word is
charash, khaw-rash
God used Moses to deliver Israel out of Egypt and it was God who put them between the sea and the Egyptians. So it is God who put you in the place you are right now. Give Him glory and honor for leading you to this place.
1. Do not fear-
a. 1 John 4:18 (NLT)
b. Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of judgment, and this shows that his love has not been perfected in us.
c. When we have fear we lose our trust in the Lord. That is what happened to the Israelites when they were trapped between the Red sea and the Egyptians. They became afraid forgetting all that God had done to deliver them.
d. Fear is meant to bring you under subjection to someone else. We see How God made the animals afraid of man because God put them under man’s authority.
i. Genesis 9:2 (NLT)
ii. All the wild animals, large and small, and all the birds and fish will be afraid of you. I have placed them in your power.
e. At times I feel I am in between the Red sea and the Egyptians but I look to the Lord because my help comes from the Lord- Ps.121:1-2
f. “as disciples of Jesus we cannot afford fear, it costs too much” Pastor Al
2. Just watch what God is doing-
a. 2 Chron. 20:17 (NLT)
b. But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord's victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!"
i. Take your position, stand still, chill out, and watch the Lord, like a servant girl watches her mistress.
c. Our society is not used to waiting and because of not waiting we get fearful and submit to the authority of the enemy.
d. Psalm 40:1-3 (NLT) I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. [2] He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. [3] He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be astounded. They will put their trust in the Lord.
i. David got five things from the Lord as he waited for the Lord to answer him
1. God heard him
2. Lifted him out of the pit of despair
3. Put him on solid ground, The Rock
4. Gave him a new song
e. I am at this point where I have just left it in the Lord hands because ‘unless the Lord builds it we are just working in vain.’ Ps. 127:1
f. “our eyes are on Jesus and Him only anything else will mislead us” Pastor Al
3. God will fight for you
a. 1 Samuel 17:47 (NLT)
b. And everyone will know that the Lord does not need weapons to rescue his people. It is his battle, not ours. The Lord will give you to us!"
c. Our victory comes from the Lord
i. Psalm 3:8 (NLT) Victory comes from you, O Lord. May your blessings rest on your people.
d. God is waiting for you to let go and put your whole trust in him and then he can take care of the situation in your life.
e. It is God who has brought me to this point where I am at between my job and my mission’s trips.
f. Yes see my Bible tells me that we overcome the devil by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony and they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. Rev. 12:11
g. “we win our battles in the battle field of prayer for in that field we see the Lord working things out for us” Pastor Al
We know that God will work it all out for His glory
Romans 8:28-30 (NLT)
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. [29] For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters. [30] And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory.
