 My boy and his work!
Okay, so I have ALOT of views on work, I think ive become obssesed haha.
But this morning I get a call from my boyfriend while he was at work. The past week he has slept in a few mornings and been late to work and yesterday he slept in and called up unwell, because he was in emergancy the night before because he had a bad reaction to a medication he was starting on called Zyprexa (for anyone that doesnt know, this is an anti-psychotic for bipolar, schitzopherania or hard to treat depression) and he didnt get out until 4am!
Anyway, he decided to tell his work last week that he was on this for bipolar, and that caused him to sleep in due to the side effect of drowsiness (which makes you sleep for about 10 hours after taking it then still wake up exhausted for the first few weeks of taking it), he told them this because they gave him an official warning so he thought, why not tell them, they said they would keep it in confidence and they pretty much did!
Today when I he called me he told me he got called up to speak to his HR person, and they spoke to him and where apparently very rude, telling him that he needed to get a letter from his doctor saying that he was fit to work while on this medication, and he told them that he wasnt taking it anymore and had been switched to Zoloft which is a simple anti depressant that causes no nasty side effects like drowsiness... anyway, this lady decided that it was her god given duty to tell him that there was no way he could be diagnosed with depression or bipolar because he was 19 years old...!
Sorry lady but there are kids out there as young as 5 that can be diagnosed with depression.
She then decided to ask him why he was depressed.... not that it was any of her damn business, which I said to him that I hope he told her.
He told her that he didnt know why, it was unexplainable and there where some facts of why but it was neither the time or place to talk about it.. she then cracked the shits and told him well if you dont pick up your game we are going to get rid of you... all because he didnt tell her the reason behind he's depression!
Now some of the reasons are mega personal, he was abused as a child... who would really want to tell someone at there work that, someone that they barely know and definatly dont trust? How is he to know that she wont go telling everyone there, then he wont want to work there!!!
Im sick of all these places asking full on reasons for things like that, it isnt any of there business and by law no, we dont need to tell you, he didnt even need to say he was depressed, but he thought they needed to know incase something went bad with it.
People that try and pry really annoy me, especially with things that they KNOW arent any of there business at all!

I'm so sad to hear about the hard time your boy has had. It was really brave of him to talk to his employers about his situation, I hope he and you find the support you need to manage his illness. Warmest wishes to you both. xx
