 a love story
Jo sat in her favourite chair. a high backed winged affair, which when it was made was overstuffed but now was sagged to comfortable. It hugged her like a lover would if she had one. She had turned the chair to face the window, looking out into the street. Watching the rain turn the view into a two dimensional picture. Her mood was pensive, sort of sad,the rain always heightened her sensibilities and today was no exception. She was still in her night dress, the pale pink one, with little flowers. The fleecy warmth reaching from neck line to floor. Her legs tucked under her. Her mind drifting from one random thought to another. A smile crossed her face as she remembered the previous night, Talking to her 'boyfriend' on line and she snuggled deeper into the chair. The entire conversation replayed in her head especially the risque parts. She had been so naughty. never believing for a second she could or would behave like a love struck teenager but she had and now felt a little embarrassed. Though she knew that it was what she needed a little attention. a little attention to her being a woman, not a wife a mother and general all round good guy.
It was getting late. the sun was all but gone and a rumble in her midriff let her know she  had not eaten since ,since, she couldn't recall when. stretching out her legs she caught sight of her own socks, multi coloured individual toes, like feet gloves. She giggled her the queen of fashion dressed like this! Into the kitchen, coffee on. "now" she said talking to the appliances, "what to eat" As if they had responded, she continued with the conversation, deciding that crumpets and strawberry jam was just the ticket on a day like to day. On opening the cupboard she noticed hot chocolate drink bought for one of the kids. "that "she told the fridge "is perfect"
She retuned to her chair, but with the sun the view had vanished. She turned her chair to the TV and turned it on anything not to be alone. She curled her self back in her chair and sipped her chocolate. Picked up a crumpet and nibbled at it. The jam was sweet, sweeter against the unsweetened chocolate and gave her a feeling of comfort. The tell garbled quietly on as she ate. when she had finished Jo curled up and snuggled into the chair thoughts of her boyfriend again teasing her, She wished they would stop.
Jo woke with a start. Looking at her watch it was near Ten after midnight. The T.V was still talking to it's self. She assumed the noise she heard was the T.V . Unfolding her self once more and picking up the used crockery She headed to the kitchen. another knocking. at her door, at this time of night? a thousand scenarios ran through her head most involving dead relatives. Stopping a half step to glance the hall mirror she decided that, what ever it was that was so important would be more important than her appearance and opened the door. The safety chain prevented the door from opening more than two inches but she needed no more. The voice that came in was enough "hello darling." she shut the door and fumbled to get the chain off and flung the door wide completely forgetting her appearance. Stood in front of her was him. she smiled and grabbed him kissing him on the lips and all but dragged him in.
thousands of questions ran through her head but for now all she wanted was another kiss.
