I agree, Elaine! I LOVE AUTUMN! Not just the weather but the food too. Apple dumplings just make a body feel loved, ya know? I don't make them very often for my family because I want them to be a special treat, but they sure treat me like royalty when I surprise them with a batch. When you make that apple dumpling for yourself, you might as well make a whole batch to share... you'll make someone's day, I'm sure!
We love to go to the park and watch the leaves skedaddle in the wind and feel the cold air on our faces while we are cozy warm in our sweaters. My eldest daughter, a delightful 6 year old whom is enthralled with the world of make-believe, said that the trees are putting on their pretty colors before they go to sleep for the winter. I loved that!
Thanks for this post. We had planned a family walk, but alas, it is pouring buckets out there. You reminded me to count my blessings. We will play some board games, eat a nice meal, and go worship God together this evening. He is so good to us and sometimes we overlook the small things.
You have a lovely autumn, too.

P.S. In Ohio we pick up buckeyes...what are conkers? |

Hi Laura,
Conkers are chestnuts. They are roasted to make them harder, then put on a string and a knot tied at the end. Each kid holds the string in one hand and the conker in the other and they hit the other conkers until they split. The person with the conker still in tact is the winner. Simple, but fun and of course there were no computer games in those days! E |
