| Me and Jonathon Ross are just like that!
|
|
|
I just got back from seeing the consultant this morning. I had been dreading it as I know I have to have a rather unpleasant procedure. However, after seeing him I feel so much better as he really put me at ease and, although I still have to have it done, he assured me I would be asleep and also allowed me to put it off until October, leaving me to enjoy the rest of the summer. I really prayed for a good result and I got it.
I took a quick look at today's posts and was really amused by Roe, as always. Sometimes she and I are just so alike it makes me smile. She talked today about being on Oprah which makes me confess that I, too, have allowed myself to daydream and imagine myself on the Jonathon Ross show (the biggest talk show in the UK) being interviewed about my miraculous book which I have had published. I lose a lot of weight (in my daydream) wear something really becoming with a cool hairstyle, and give witty replies which has the audience responding on my side whilst Jonathon (known for his caustic wit) concedes that I have the right, at 63, to be interesting and amusing. Considering he only interviews the rich, young, beautiful and very famous, it's a pretty ludicrous daydream.
Meanwhile, I sit here on a wet and rather miserable day, waiting for inspiration for my latest character. I have written 10 chapters so far, which isn't bad given the amount of time I have had to do so, and am gaining confidence each chapter I write. The daydream seems pretty far off but the good thing is my darling husband has promised to answer the phone, do the shopping and cook this evening's dinner, just so I can get a day with nothing to do but write. This, of course, is because I am calling in my Brownie points for all those golfing days when I have sat alone!) Seriously, I am so grateful for the encouragement he has given me. I also wanted to say a great big thank you to all of those people out there, and you know who you are, for also giving me the incentive to begin writing a novel. Without it, I doubt that I would have got this far. For years I have tended to look after other people putting their needs first and now, for the first time I am making time for me.
Who knows what will come of it all, but if determination and optimism can make it come to fruition, then I can do it, if only to prove you can do anything you want, at any age, if you really want to. |

I am glad you are really working on that novel. I can't wait to read it. And, I want an autographed copy!!
You and Roe are two of my favorite people on this site and it is nice that you get along so well. Maybe you will meet someday just like me and Prelude!

Hey - maybe I will meet both of you in America. Also, there is a direct flight from New York to Belfast every day! Thanks for the encouragement, both of you. I've had a great afternoon writing.

Great post. Glad you have been given a "me" day to write. "If only to prove you can do anything you want, at any age, if you really want to." Those words spoke and inspired me more than you will ever know. I can't wait to read your book. Put me down for an autographed copy as well. Peace.

But we can Colorado! Too often in my life I felt it was 'too late' to do things. In every case, without exception, I was wrong.

I really really appreciate having another world in never never blog land to hide out in once in awhile, my own little santuary!
its like my office has a magic door, and when I walk in everyone is so nice and supportive of one another, people look out and encourage and sympathize with everyone and keep up with your day to day struggles are on hand at a moments notice with a smile...people here think Im funny....I really enjoy that...
Ive said this before and I will say it again, thoughts.com is like cheers, where everyone knows your name (fake or not) and everyones glad you came...

I hope your wish comes tree overthehill
and was happy to hear you were gaining confidence and not weight and that your husband is so supportive of your efforts, thats BIG!

Darn straight, I can do anything I want to. As a little Mary Engelbright card. "its good to be Queen" my husband is supportive also, but I let him be a good guy in my stories. He also gets to be a cowboy in my paintings. If he's really good, I'll let him be a bad guy sometime. Maybe.

Thanks Circe - I particularly adored your opening paragraph which, in my lowly opinion, is the most important and sets the scene. You really did that!
