And I check first thing every morning after praying for Anna when I awake. Now we wait for more positive news. She was prayed for in morning communion yesterday and it felt positive. As Leisa says, no news is good news. Every blessing, Elaine

Hurray! You're back. Even if you are really down at least you're back among friends. And you do have a lot of them. Nobody is going to dare hurt you or me and all the others will round them up and fling them into cyber space. I just know all the love people have sent you has put a big smile on your face. Big hugs, E

We will continue to pray for further improvements and also that Lael has a peaceful time while you are away. It's great to hear about all those little things that help to encourage. God Bless, Elaine

Hi T - I think I'll give that one a miss! I need a nice, peaceful day. I did see The Green Mile and it was a wonderful movie. I watched The Constant Gardener on DVD the other day and loved it. It's so nice when you can really get into a movie and feel good after. Talk soon - E

I really hope you get a peaceful night's sleep tonight where you wake up and feel great. Dreams like that take a lot out of you. Good luck Sarah

Meanwhile, Just believe. It's that simple. Without Him, you will face so many things alone when you don't have to. Just take a look outside on a beautiful day and see His creation. As Alice says - you will know. I don't think there is a Christian alive who hasn't had doubts, but then again God gave us free will. Sometimes it all seems too much and then you receive a blessing and you realise - it's all true! Blessings to you

Couldn't watch the movie - no link, but I have to confess I didn't know Stephen King had written those other books either. Thanks you two for the education - E x

You daft thing......but I know what you mean! I think it's very important to have special glasses for special drinks. I can only drink coke out of a tall, slim glass with ice and lemon. Now I'm going to try the water next time the sun comes out. Darn - I just missed it. Maybe tomorrow - big sigh

So glad you had a fun time - just what you all needed. I guess Anna just loves the security of home and who can blame her for that. Hope you have a great weekend and that Bubba continues to perform!

I agree you don't have to read the content of blogs you don't like, but do they have to use the F word and others on the title? Some of the titles are so provocative they could be on the covers of Porn magazines, not on a site which, as Scotslad says, is designed to be different.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. May it be one that will remain in your memory in years to come for the best possible reasons - faith, family and friends. You are never forgotten in my prayers and those of many others. Elaine

I have to add that when I came to this site at first, I was almost tempted to run by the foul language used by some of the bloggers. In fact, I stayed off side for some time as I was horrified by the way some things were discussed. I'm not being a snob either but there are so many ways to get your point over without swearing. It's like a breath of fresh air to read something that makes us think, even when we avidly dissagree with the sentiments. So nobody is asking for anyone to be gagged, just to put your point over in a way that is not offensive to others.

Posted in If the Christian God Exists... on 2007-11-21 06:12:07
Sorry Wanderer, I hope I don't sound like I'm preaching, but what you said has been on my mind. I used to find the God of the Old Testement hard to understand. Then, through good teaching, I discovered that in those days it was the people who caused the chaos that abounded then. God led them out of the wilderness, fed them, kept them safe and still they complained. When God gave us his son he gave us a new Covenant which are the standards Christians should live by nowadays. I know it's hard to understand but God does not cause the suffering - he doesn't deal it - he heals it. I hope this helps a little. It's why I always think that just reading the Bible is not enough - I know people who can quote it word for word but are non believers. It's learning from other Christians that counts. I hope there is one close by you now. E

And if we lived by His commandments - which we chose not to - none of these things would have happened in the world. So he gave his only son that we might be forgiven. He gives us free will, free choices and He directs our paths when we ask him to. He loves unconditionally, shares our sorrows and listens to our prayers. Yes, sometimes He doesn't heal those who have obeyed him, but it is because He has greater plans for them. He turns no one away, forgives the worst sinner and guides us when we truly want him to. True Christians will always help you when they can. True followers never turn their heads away. But then again, there are a lot of people who claim to be Christians and are not.

I suppose snow in Northern Ireland has a different meaning to us than a lot of other places. We just don't get it that much. When we do and are fortunate to wake up on a morning when the trees are covered in snow and the sky is blue, then it is so majestic and awesome. I live beside the lough so that makes it even more beautiful looking beyond to the other side covered in white. We have a mountain that hangs over Belfast called the Cavehill and the Divis Mountains beyond that which are magnificent covered in snow. But then again, I feel for all those other counties in the UK who really suffer when it falls heavily. Thanks T for the thoughts!

Tiente is right - here in Europe we don't have to pay anything for medical treatment. I wish there was something I could do to help but all these miles away it's impossible. I will pray though for something mighty to happen in your lives.

What an inspiring and beautifully written account of all that has gone on in your life. You have a lot of gifts, a beautiful son and a lovely nature. I know just how you feel about your grandma - I tried to hang on to my Mum when her poor little body was no longer capable of living normally. They are both in a much better place. I hope life starts to give you all you so richly deserve and have worked for. E

Perhaps you could pray for the young man who wrote the blog 'Does God Hate Me' found under Popular Posts. I really feel he needs all the prayer he can get. Blessings, Elaine

Posted in Does God hate me? on 2007-11-19 02:30:18
No God does not hate you - He loves you more than you will ever know. You sound like you are at a crossroads in your life and I really feel for your pain. The thing is it is just as simple as asking God to come into your life. Reading the Bible works for some people but I confess it didn't speak to me the way it ought. I went to an Alpha class and that changed everything for me. I still suffer all the ups and downs of life, bereavement, hurt from friends and even family, but the wonderful thing is God is always there to pick me up. You know He has a wonderful way of putting people in our paths when we need them. There must be someone you know who is a Christian and who could guide you in the right direction. It may be just a prayer or a book to read, but really all we really need is to believe God exists and to invite Him in. I think you are already there as you are seeking. I will pray for you now and I really hope the pain begins to ease and you find what you are looking for. The best advice I ever got was from a hugely intelligent Christian who said 'Just believe'. Do that and you will have a friend forever. One who never lets you down. It isn't an easy road but it's a better one. Blessings, Elaine

It is so nice to see you cheerful again. I really hope Pilates can do some good. It can be as gentle as you need it to be. As to the blogs - I, too, have been a bit down with pain and can't get the words flowing. I will try though. You have always been such an encouragement. I hope you had a great sleep last night and a great day ahead. I am feeling more positive too. Blessings, Elaine

I did it yesterday! Didn't do anything and watched a movie (The Constant Gardener - great) with my husband, then went out for dinner. We both woke this morning thinking it was Sunday and then realised we could hang out for another day. We've both decided to do it more often. Good luck!

It's hard not to be tearful when you are in a lot of pain and everyday chores become massive tasks. The great thing is you are still seeing the funny side of life. Do try some Pilates simple exercises and stretch that poor old back. Good luck! Elaine

Just try to concentrate on those good people who value your friendship and there appear to be a lot of them. As to the others, let them blow in the wind. Don't let them get you down - you have enough to contend with. You are a giver and that means you will always have burdens. Just try and carry the right weight! It's tough trying to get the balance right but it's possible.

Gosh - now I'd love to know one. We don't have many of them in Ireland. We do have donkeys though and I passed two mares who had new foals in Donegal this week and they were just a delight to behold. Thanks for the information!

I always remember my very wise mother telling me in my darkest hour that in the morning there would appear to be a little more light. I couldn't see it, but looking back, she was right. You appear to be in your darkest hour and you can't see for despair, but you will, believe me you will. As to the cleaning up there's only one way to start. Somewhere - a little at a time. Clear one tiny space and sit in it and you will get inspiration to do a bit more. Bit by bit you will begin to see it take shape, so grab a broom and get started. I look forward to hearing about it. And the pain? That will start to wane as you begin to clean!
