almost got arrested this morning for a yellow ligh
Just another flipping day in my paradise!!!! Man you have to love life, exspecialy the nice little surprises that comes with it. So I awoke in the best mood ever. Like any other day I did my morning thing. Stopped at starbucks, Chatted with the girls, Then went on my marry way to work. Thats when hell broke out. First let me stat I have a need for speed. It's insane how many tickets I've gotten in my life. My attitude is, hey at least I'm keeping the police department with a job. Due to how much I pay them. I never fight them. I take ownership when I do wrong, but if I didn't do anything trust me they are going to hear about it. Okay so this morning for some odd flipping reason I choice not to speed. Now that's where I went wrong I think.  I'm at the light that I need to turn at. Out of no where the light turns yellow. I couldn't stop cuz if I did I would be in the middle of the intercaton. Well, I went though it of course. My car was sericously at the light when it turned. So stopping would be pointless. I could of caused an accident. I thought nothing of it, until I seen the lights. I pull over and the cop has the nerve to ask the famous question, "do you know why I pulled you over?" I stated "no i have no clue. I wasn't speeding." He tells me I ran a light. I said, "that wasn't possible. I don't run lights just speed." He didn't think this was funny. I wasn't trying to be I told him. I give him all my paper work. He goes back to his car. I choice to smoke at that point. I was pissed. I didn't do anything wrong. When he came back I some how managed to drop my smoke on the ground. Again the cop goes off on me. And gives me a 100.00 fine. Me and my big flipping mouth choice to fight back. I shouldn't of opened my mouth but I did. So at that point he asked me to get out of my car. I said, "no I didn't do anything wrong." Well, the cop goes back to his car and calls for back up. When he was at his car I choice to find my cell to call work to let them know I would be late due to this flipping cop. My cell was on the floor. Why? I have no clue. When I reached to get my phone I hear the cop tell me to put my hands in the air.  He actually had the nerve to get on the speaker!! I lost it!!!!!!!!!! I flipped out. I didn't put my hands in the air, instead I called work. Again wrong move on my part. Next thing I know I am surrounded by 5 cops!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!! So I get out of my car with my hands in the air and lay on the ground like they tell me to. During this whole time my boss is still on the phone. She was freaking out. She heard every thing that was going on. For some reason she choose to come down to my car. For what I have no clue. Like I said before, all I was doing was turning on my street to go to work. I was only maybe 3 min away. So likewise every co worker of mine saw what happened to me. Yea having a boss come freaking out when your hands are in the air isn't the best thing ever. All I do is speed NOTHING more. So to make it short I almost got arrested for the flipping light I some how ran. Whatever!!!!! I now have to pay 100.00 for my smoke and 250.00 for the light!!!!! That's crap. I love my paradise life!!! Hope your morning went better than mine.

Three words..... GET......A......LAWYER.
I know a man here in Pa who had basically the same thing happen to him. Minus the littering fine that is ( Dont think you have much of a case there ). Long story short he fought the fine and countersued for character assasination and defamation of character on the grounds that he had been mistreated during what should have been a routine traffic stop and several of his co-workers had been witnesses to the excessive use of force the police used to handle the situation. Its a cellphone, not an Uzi and nobody deserves to kiss pavement for trying to call work to tell them they would be late. And if the cop cant tell the difference between a phone and a weapon of some sort, he/she has no business dealing with the public in general.

Not that I want to argue but I do think that you are in the wrong here on a couple of points. Firstly, if a police officer tells you to put your hands in the air it's a good idea to do it or else you might end up being shot. Also, by refusing to get out of the car when he asked you to, that might constitute obstructing a peace officer, depending on whether he had a valid reason to ask you to get out. As well, just as a general rule, it's a good idea to never argue with a police officer, or even do anything that seems like you are arguing, because, even if you're right, it won't do you any good.. they have the power in the situation, not you. If you seriously think you are being treated unfairly, remain calm and polite but make mental notes of everything that occurred (and, afterwards, written notes) and then file a complaint.

Oh, dont feel sorry for him. the settlement that resulted from the lawsuit paid off his college loans and a very nice chunk of his home.
