 Popular culture in my home
Popular culture is taking over the new generation and has become the hottest items on the market, whether it be clothing, technology, music, videos, internet, social networks or cars. For me pop culture is music, dancing, and clothing. When it comes to choosing to those three itemsfrom these genres i always choose the genre that  reflect my cultural identity. What i mean is i prefer to purchase rap over pop, urban clothing versus suburban clothing, and hip-hop over choreographed, rhythmless pop dances. Urban clothing would be considered brands such as Akademiks, Rocawear, Dereon and PePe which are my top picks. These brandscater to the black culture and cannot be found in suburban stores such as hollister or american eagle which usually cater to the white community. When it comes to music rap and hip-hop are valued more in the black community over pop and if you were black and was caught buying a Jesse McCartney cd you would be instantly  shamed because it is deemed inappropiate for a black person who was born and raised in a black community to be confroming to the white world. Dancing is another world within its own, it is a fact in the black community that blackshave a natural ability to dance. When you are black and cant dance a lot of people in the black community would tease you and state you dance like a white girl. For anyone who has encountered this situation, my advice to them would be watch some hip-hop videos and pick up on some moves because it  is socially incorrect to be black and not know how to dance. This is how pop culture has created a new found  stereotype through cultural texts. In my eyes Popular Culture is only the new division of people through music, internet, clothing, etc...
Pop culture, the new prejudice?
