 At a loss
When mom went on a binge we always ended up in our local emergency room.Dad never laid a hand on her,had tried everything to help her quit to no avail.I was the one who had to go with dad,I rode in the back seat with her.On one occasion she took a bottle of valiums,I held her head up watching in horror as she foamed at the mouth.
Another time she fell against the kitchen cupboard, cut a 8 inch gash in her head. These trips to the hospital were frequent and very frightening for all of us. Doctors told us she almost died taking the valium. They nearly couldnt wake her.Being a 13 yr old kid I thought she did these things because she hated us.She would cuss, swear at me and dad.
When I turned 16 and got a job dad helped me buy a car it was a gremlin.  Well on this particular day mom stole my car to go to the legiun. So a friend drove me to find her On the ride home she kept trying to jump outof the car.when I parked on the side of the road, went around to help as there was a big ditch.I leaned down to get her up,she sucker punched me as hard as she could.Ireally did see stars.Iblacked out, found myself straddling her my hands around her throat. It was then I knewI had to get away or something bad would happen
