Carla rolled off of me and onto her back, as we lay next to each other in the light of the candle, the song " Love the one you're with" Started playing. I did not even have to look at Carla to know she was smiling as was I. Never really paid attention to the lyrics when I was younger, but I heard them clear tonight.

There's a girl, right next to you
And she's just waiting for something
To do
It forced me to stop and think of why I was where I was at this point and time. I am not one to believe things happen for a reason, I believe things, Just Happen. I am not a religious man, but if I believed in God, which I don't, I would say that it was he who sent this woman to me. To show me there is life after death but not the way we think of it. Only God would know that it would take a very special person to prove to some one like me, that there is a light at the other end of this darkness I have been living in. I had a strong feeling that the special person could be in my presence right now. I turned to Carla to speak, I saw her eyes closed and the smile on her face. I remained silent, I just watched as she lay there.
Out of nowhere it seemed, I heard a laugh erupting. Now I could speak. " So what is that? A delayed reaction?"
She tried to reply " No, Yes, No. I was just thinking about what we talked about. Sometimes it is so good, smiling is not enough. I smiled as long as I could, but OH JEFF, I had to laugh."
This was only the third time that I can think of that I may have blushed. The first time I was a 15 Year old boy walking with my very first girlfriend and Mr Cool stepped on a banana peel, and just like in the movies, I slipped on my ass. The second time was 15 Years later when I discovered MY Wife had saved that fucking banana peel, never telling me.
And now this woman resting on my bed had managed to do it again, and my ass was feeling great. And my toe was keeping very quiet.
" WOW." I said. " It was good huh?"
" Good? " She replied. " Honey if that was good then I am not sure I am ready for Great. I need to pee." She got up and I noticed she had to steady herself by reaching for the wall. I took that as a compliment. The light went on in the bathroom and I noticed the door did not close. Strange how a simple action can tell a man so much. And that action normally happens a few years down the road, not on a first date. It was that moment that I realized she truly felt that it was right to be here. She stepped out of the bathroom and stood in front of the vanity to wash her hands. I had the perfect view from the bed. I watched as her butt jiggled from her rubbing her hands together washing. She dried her hands and reached for my comb on the counter. I watched as she ran it through her hair, glancing in the mirror to see if she had it right. .
She caught me looking and said while looking at me in the mirror. " You know she is still in the house, don't you Jeffry?"
" Yeah, I know." I said. I was surprised I was not taken back by that statement. She continued.
" Then you know she is OK with what just happened, Right?" Who is this woman standing there, I thought to myself. I smiled as I spoke. " Yes Carla, I can honestly say that in my heart and my mind everything is alright" There is life after death..
" Want some Ice Cream?" She said giving me another look I have not seen before.
" Now that would be great." I said
" And what flavor would you like Jeff?" She replied. " How about you surprise, Baby. Is it alright if I call you Baby? Baby. "
She gave me a look that I hope to see often and said. " You know Dear, it is things like that, the simple things that tell me who you are." With that she was gone and I was left to wonder if she was reading my mind. I won't say I was freaking out, but I had some serious thinking to do.....Phil Collins came on with " Look Through My Eyes"
There are things in life you learn
And oh in time you'll see
