| The Day the Sun Came Out...continued

Another break and more coffee is needed. I completely forgot about my crazy schizophrenic brother, Dante. He got his disability check today so I guess I figured he would just disappear for the weekend but that might not be the case. Half an hour ago, the children alerted me to the fact that he was downstairs spraying the front door with some sort of green bottle. He is a mad lunatic, trying to walk through life with less than half a brain cell left. It will be up to me to administer his medication for Saturday night. Good luck to me, I just try to stay out of his way. I will be applying for a job on monday and I doubt they will hire me if I sustain another black eye from him. I found the green bottle. It was a bottle of raid. One more project comes to mind, I will gather all the sprays of any kind from under the sink to in the garage and put them in big plastic tub and hide it in the attic. Whenever we need it we will have to climb into the attic, just hope it slows him down.
The kids are bored again after an unexpected period of relative calm watching TV and going swimming. The couches are vacumned but the pillows are still on the floor and now once again the focus of attention as they now get piled high for the jump down. I don't like it but it looks safe enough from here. The laundry is put away and the kitchen is clean but not for long. Mom says she's cooking tonight which is just another way of saying, "I will be making a huge mess and you will have to clean up after me because I am not going to lift a finger to even put the knife I am using in the sink and I will not rinse off even a single counter or dish I use. I will leave the leftover scraps of cutup vegetables all over the place including the pieces that fall on the floor. Looks like you will have to mop again as well."
It is all okay. One year from now will see us driving on down the road in our very own car. It might not be a new car but it will be ours and hopefully it will run for awhile without breaking down. I can't wait to start working and I don't even care where it is as long as there is a check, any check will be progress. I will save money for one year and then it will be time to leave. My time will come. Our time will come. Why didn't I do this last year? No more wasting time, time goes by so fast. One year is like a blink when I am looking back. I have nothing to be afraid of, this year will be over before I know it. There is nothing that can hold me back now. I will get my mop ready for the kitchen floor and smile at my mom. Who is to know she can't help it if she's a messy cook? Breaks over, thank goodness for the internet and a place to write, a place to connect. Is anyone out there? Just say hi if you are. I have to go and load the washing machine and then clean out a drawer somewhere. |
