| Where Did Christmas Go...?
|
|
|
|
As I sit here, this thought has crossed my mind every single year. What happened to the meanin' of Christmas. I remember Christmas bein' a happy time. Gettin' homemade presents, and simple gifts that made you happy. Nowadays you don't get to see that anymore.
I see the parents buyin' huge expensive 'toys' for their children. OMG who really needs a WII, that is like $600.00. Back in my day, I can't imagine gettin' a thing like that. NES, was a treat and a surprise when we got it. My sister and brother, we were very thankful for that.
Now, when someone ask me what I would like for Christmas. I say, I would love a homemade Christmas card from them. Cause it will mean somethin' to me, like they spent time on givin' the gift of carin' to someone esle. Instead of droppin' million of dollars at a cashier register or a department store.
I know the meanin' of Christmas is still around somewhere. family nowadays need to bring it back.
until later P...xo

My twin brother, one year asked for a tape dispenser and so that is what he got. We still get a laugh out of that story when family comes together. Another year, all five kids asked for bow and arrow. We got them and spent years active in archery.

Good post and well said. Yet people still think they aren't unduly influenced by the media?
I agree we need to get back to the "Magic" of Christmas. You can't buy that anywhere - cos it's priceless!

I actually just had this conversation with my In-Laws. We are trying to go back to Christmas and it's meaning. We are going easy on the presents, but the food and the company will be plentiful.
I'm excited about it this year!

I know exactly what you mean. Christmas for most has lost it's meaning. My Christmas this year will be spent with my whole family and I can't wait to see my one and two year old nephews open their gifts and play with the empty boxes.
