 Camp Barnabas
I have camp next month, I am excited to be heading to Missouri, and having a good time.  I have friends who have chronic illnesses and someone who have alot of medical problems.  I also have disabled friends who get to hang out with me for a week at Camp Barnabas and act just like a normal person would with a little help from a loving Staff or Christian in Action (C.I.A).
They have so many things to do there that you really enjoy watching their faces light up and laugh with you and not at you at times.  There has been a few changes but not much besides the new Media Center which is for rainy days.
You have horses, canoes, fishing, rifles, archery, ropes course, swimming, nature trail, camp outs, clubhouse, and in the evening your have different themes for events with everyone on the camp ground.  The last night of the entire camp has a Cross that we carry back and forth from each cabin and pray for a safe trip or whatever is on our hearts that week.
Saying good byes are hard when you live as a group of 12 to 14 people in a cabin and you get to know their habbits at times.  Sometimes you wake up with one who is in a wheelchair and can not move to get a tissue and your their to take that place and help them clean off.

If you would like more information on this camp you can go to www.campbaranbas.org.

oh wow that sounds like so much fun. When i was in school, id say 5th grade i had a friend named Kyle who was in a wheelchair, and everyday i got to take care of him. Help him color, he laughed all the time, he would drool all over himself before he even got to my class, but that was ok i didnt care! The teachers cleaned him up and we had a good old time...=)) Enjoy your time at the camp. God bless you.

Hey, I just found your blog and thought I would comment on it. Did you know that a lot of the success of Camp Barnabas is due to a guy named Steve Butcher in Rogers Arkansas. He was President of PB2, an big architectural firm in Northwest Arkansas. His company help build up the number of cabins so more kids could attend. It's amazing that they did all that with no lawsuits or anything. From what i can judge, the place is an incredible experience. I hope you enjoyed your time and remember to be thankful for people like Steve Butcher.
