Tuesday In Snowland
Hi,

Yesterday was 71 degrees...nice, albeit breezy day!  If my beloved had been well, we would have definitely hit the trails!!!!  Instead, I hauled several wagon-loads of sand into Trumb's pen to fill in a low spot.  He likes to stand there, and pass the day with his buddy, Spanks.  Unfortunately that spot floods everytime it rains.  So, I thought I'd get smart and fill it in.  I have a huge pile of sand in the back, so why not.  Thats what the sand is for anyway.

I'm terribly out of shape, so I only managed to get two heaping loads in before I pooped out.  I figured I would do maybe two loads a day and by the end of the week, it wouldn't flood (at least not so bad).  Today it absolutely stormed!

HUGE DELUGE of water this morning.  LOL...its gonna take me a bit longer to fill that low spot!  I now have to wait for things to dry up a bit before resuming my task!  Also, the temperature dropped severely, and it started snowing around 5:30 pm!  Yes, SNOW!  AGAIN!

It isn't snowing hard, and the flakes do not appear to be sticking anywhere...but this is Oklahoma, and that is deceiving!  Those nasty little buggers tend to drift into the most inopportune places, then turn into ice!  Spanks has his blanky on, and Trumbs doesn't seem bothered by the cold.  They each have a roundbale to munch on, so I'm not worried about them getting cold....Ok, I AM worried, but there isn't anything else I can do.  If I had actual stalls to lock them in, I would!

Spanky's mysterious infection is noticeably on the mend, and I expect a full recovery by Valentine's day.  I  will give him an addition week off after he finishes his rounds of medications before I start lunging him.  I plan to lung him every day (thats possible!!!) for a week or two then start riding him!  I've already missed the first show, because there is no way he would be ready to show off in that short a time.

Hmph, Oh well!  That is one resolution I will struggle with this year!  So far, I've maintained my eating and drinking resolutions...though I am sorely tempted all the time!  The excercise isn't going so well, but I'm still working to fix that!  As for riding...well, you know how THAT one is going at the moment!

Work is slow, and thats fine with me.

Not much else to tell.

Oh, I had to buy a new pooper-scooper.  My old one finally gave up the ghost and died!  It was a very old one that LC and I had swapped BK.  She bought it who knows when, and it was getting wobbly and very rickety.  She mentioned that she'd like to have it fixed.  We bought her a brand new one, and took this one back to see what we could do.  I took it apart, cleaned out the hole that the handle fits in, filled it with silicone, then put a new nut and bolt through it.  I had it in my trailer for three years, but it got put to use when I moved out on my own.  It was a good scoop, and I would love to fix it again, but its cracked beyond repair now.    Oh well.

I bought a new one.  Hopefully this one will give as many long years of service as the last one.  The scoop part is not useable for anything, but I will keep the handle.  There is nothing wrong with it.  If nothing else, I can make a saddlepad rack out of it pretty easily.

Ok, I have nothing else to tell you.

Bye

I'm glad to hear that Spanks is on the mend. yay!!!!!

I'm sorry about the weather, the same thing pretty much happened to me, I was planning to shovel out poo from the mustang shelter, and then the storms hit, it is now a muddy mess in there and there are no animals in it!!!! O_O

Anyway, so I have to wait until better weather.

Hang in there, things will eventually settle back down for you.

Miss you
