One Of The TWO CONSTANTS In Life
Hi,

They say there are two constants in life...Death and Taxes.  Well, after anticipating my possible tax returns, and waiting for all the W-2 forms to come in the SNAIL mail, I finally got the very last one today!  Leave it to the State to wait as long as possible to send out anything like this.  Anyway, I finally have all my information to file my taxes.

I got one from Job2 for a whopping $95, one from my previous employer's stock people for $25, one from a personnel agency that handled the college football ticket booths I worked at, and one from my bank.  The big ones also came! My job, and my unemployment.

I managed to find a nice free tax service online.  You have to qualify for the free part (the less W-2's you have, the better!).  I qualified for the basic service and ended up paying to have my state taxes filed as well.  The whole thing is online, and fairly easy to accomplish.  For those who wish to explore the option I chose...the site is taxact.com  I have used them before with success.  I could not use them last year due to having so much stuff (401k, stock stuff, and unemployment, not to mention school) that I ended up having to go to Jackson Hewlett.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT EVER GO TO THEM!  THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE!!!!!!

I will never go to them again.  If you like them, and have had no problems with them, then I apologize for upsetting you.  BUT I will never go there again!

OK, next subject!

I got the horses pedicures today.  I got a number of a horseshoer from the feedstore.  I called this morning to see about making an appointment and was told that she would relay the message to the guy.  I had no idea who this guy was, so I assumed that the female taking the message was the wife, or girlfriend.  Well, DB, Mom and I were going to take the kids to the flea market to look around.

I was feeding the horses when the guy called back and asked when I wanted them done.  We talked for a minute or two and then decided that since the weather was warming up to almost 50 degrees that he'd come out today!  Yay!  My poor Spanks had broke a huge chunk from his back hoof, up past the 'quick' and had been limping around a few days ago.  He was fine yesterday.  Anyway, I zipped to the bank and got cash for him (I prefer to pay in cash so I don't have to worry with watching for a check to clear! Plus, they can 'forget' to track it as income).

He called and asked further directions, which I gave.  He was one street off, and very close.  Once here, he hopped out of the car and looked around.  I brought Trumbs out and he began.

Trumbs was being a total idiot!  He did not like the guy messing with his feet!  He even tried to rear up, but its hard for him to do since the guy had a hold of his back hoof at the time!  After a stiff lecture (and a hearty pull on the lead!) he settled down to grumble silently while the guy worked!  Afterwards I turned him back into his pen, and got Spanks.

My beloved was a perfect gentleman compared to Trumbs!  The guy was impressed that Spanky actually lifts his foot when signalled.  I have to laugh because normally Trumbs will too!  Anyway, he trimmed Spanks and I put him away too!  Trumbs was still sulking and mad, but the guy made friends with him anyway.

Once he left, I called DB back to see what they were up to.  They came and got me, and we dropped mom off at home.  She was tired and had some work to do at home.  So, DB and I took her boys to the flea market.  By this time it was noon, and there weren't a whole lot of people left.  The morning had been real hazy and cold, but by then it was warm enough to shed a coat, but keep a sweatshirt on.

We headed to the bathrooms because the littlest had to go potty before we could look around.  Once the neccessities had been taken care of, we wandered around for a bit.  Finally we saw the people selling birds and small animals.  I ended up buying a rabbit.  DB's oldest managed to talk the guy into discounting another rabbit, so he got one too.

My bunny is a dark brown (chocolate colored) Lion Head rabbit.  I have named him Leo, and he is rather quiet when you hold him.  He has longish fur all over, but he had a really shaggy 'mane' like lions do.  The other bunny is a plain white and brown mottled rabbit with shortish ears.  His body is all white but his ears are a light brown, and he may have a little spot on his back that is brown.  Its hard to tell,  'cause he could be just dirty.  His fur is a whole lot shorter than Leo's.

They named him Peter Rabbit.  So, Peter and Leo are living in a cage at the barn.  I will post a picture tomorrow.  We didn't think to bring the camera today, sorry.  So far Leo is really calm.  We took them to DB's house for a rest before going on to Petsmart and the barn.  We turned them loose in her courtyard (no possible way for them to get out...concrete, etc.).  Peter Rabbit was hopping around and exploring.  Leo explored a bit, then was content to sit and keep an eye on Peter.  Leo was easy to catch up again.  Peter didn't want to be caught yet!  So, I had to corner him, but after I had my hand on him, he stopped.

perhaps tomorrow I will take my camera and get some shots of the newest members of my barn family!

Ok, I'm tired...

Bye

Just a fare warning... male rabbits will attack and kill each other. They should not be in the same cage together. When they are loose for playtime, they should be watched closely. Rabbits are territorial, they will fight if they think the other is going to take something. I haven't seen this myself, but Hailey has had bunnies for years and she swears that you cannot have males together. She also says females can't be together either, but I haven't a clue.

With your title I was waiting for a death. Thank God there wasn't one.

I bet Trumbs sulking is cute!!!!

Poor Spanks, what did the farrier say about his chipped foot?

He trimmed most of the chip away. It looks fine now. He isn't limping or tripping over it anymore. The farrier is really young (just turned 25) so he is still unsure of himself. I think he was nervous to do them for the first time. I told him I'd use him for three or four more trimmings to see how he did. You can't tell how good someone will be until you see them under several different circumstances. I think that once he gets a bit of confidence he will do what he knows to do. Plus, by then I will see if he really knows what he is doing. He didn't do anything wrong, just didn't trim them as much as I thought they would need. They look good though, so I didn't complain. Next time I will ask him to trim more toe off Spanky (his toes grow real fast, but his heels don't grow at all).

Oh, I will probably figure out how to make two cages for the rabbits. I don't want to explain to the little ones why there is only one rabbit left.
