A Gorgeous Day!
Hello,

Today was absolutely beautiful...if a bit windy!  It was warm, the sun was shining, and everything is turning green and budding...wow!

I would have let the boys out to play this afternoon, but I went to look at a house.  Its cute, and close to work!  Plus, its 2 acres, with what the realtors call a 'barn' AND a 'stable'...but really its a three-sided shelter, and a shed. Still, I see potential!

The house sits towards the front of the property, with a big front yard.  The two car garage is on the side of the house but its pretty accessible!  BTS and I went to see it after work...he tagged along because he is building a home and wants ideas on how to lay out the house on his land.  The house has vinyl siding and looks to be fairly recently done (last 5 years or so)... I like it.

The realtor handling the house seemed really nice as well.  After speaking to her on the phone to get the address, and then driving by, I emailed her to ask if I was allowed to have horses on the property.  Its in a fairly suburban area, but there are still pockets of 'livestock' type animals ALL OVER!  I am hoping that I can have my horses, but those other animals may have been grandfathered in already.

Since we were afraid of disturbing the occupant, we didn't actually peek in the windows, nor did we go slinking around the 'barn' and 'stable' areas.  I'd really like to know if those structures would really work for me, or if I'd have to fabricate something else in the near future.  The info that the realtor emailed me had some photos of the house and grounds.  They showed a nice sunny house that just needs some updating.  All in all, I'm definitely interested, but I'm still waiting to hear back from the banker as to whether or not I'm approved and how much!

My parents generously offered to 'co-borrow' with me since I can't get approved on my own.  If things don't work out this time, I'll just wait the suggested 6 months then try again!  By then I should have my credit back to a place where I can possibly get approved by myself.  My mom has put me on one of her credit cards to help build up my credit history.

Work is going ok.  I have completed my first 'break-out box' but then we discovered that the sheetmetal shop had installed the wrong 'nutplates' so now we have to wait for some uppity-up to fix their goof up.  Oh well.  We still get to work Saturday (Overtime, yay!!!!!) so I'm not terribly upset!

I'm loving the overtime!  I managed to get 16 hours of overtime on this paycheck (two week period)! Yay!!!!! It may not seem like a lot, since some of the other shops are working 16-20 hours a WEEK, but its a start!  At my last job, I managed to work pretty close to 16 hours a week overtime fairly often.  No, I'm NOT a workaholic...I've just got things I want to buy!!!!!  Like a house, a new horse trailer, show clothes, etc...

Speaking of horse trailers... my goal, even if I get a house is to save up some money and buy a brand new horse trailer similar to what my best friend has.  I saw one similar to it ( but 10 years old)  at a used car lot by my house for $3500, but when I looked the exact make and model up online, I found out I could buy a BRAND NEW one for $4000. So, that is my goal for the horse trailer part.

Ok, I don't have any other news...exciting or otherwise.

Bye

Oh! The house sounds great! I hope you get the loan!!! My fingers are double and triple crossed for you!

I've never thought of you as a workaholic, I just know that like me, there are things you want and you are willing to work extra hard to get them.

The trailer we got, I'm assuming you are refering to my trailer, was $3800.00 brand new off the sales lot in Shawnee. No horse had ever been in it and it was pristine. I do really like our trailer. The only issue I have with it is the fact that if you have a big horse, they have to go in the front and only a smallish horse fits in the second spot. Though, if you are only hauling one horse it is perfect! Plus, when Asahm is feeling insecure, it is spacious enough for him to turn around easily. Chant could even turn around in it, so the width is key. The wheel base on the trailer is actually wider than my Explorer's, but it matches the quad cab Tundra. I also like the fact that the two saddle racks are removable and the nearly solid divider can be opened to allow the trailer to be used in its original form of stock trailer.(This is how we got the mustangs home when we adopted them) The only thing I have to complain... okay two things.

1. Rain gets your tack wet because it is a little to open. The same openness is nice though when it is hot and you have a nervous horse. If you do get this trailer, I suggest putting in plexi-glass just in the front so that the wind can't blow the rain in and soak the tack.

2. If you pull it on your bumper, the turning radius stinks. It is fine on a tow hitch under your bumper, but it sucks on a bumper ball. I've pinched and broken the electrical on the trailer once and ruined the plastic trim on the bumper.

LOL... I have a regular hitch so I don't have the pinch issue that you do. I also invested a few dollars and got some flexible plastic tubing to put over my wiring. Plus, when I get ready to buy a new trailer, I'll definitely ask about the plexiglass for the tack area! If I can't get it as an option, I'll do it myself!!! ;)

I'm sure you could do it yourself for cheaper than they offer it. The trailer place had it for the whole trailer, but I didn't think I wanted that. I wanted the horses to get air in our hot Summers. Anyway, so yeah, I think you could just put in the plexiglass yourself in just the areas you want it. Make sure when you are looking at the trailers to check out one that they have put the plexi in so that you can see how they did it. I'm sure you could come up with something better and cheaper.
