The Hulk of Depression
I had to have some extensive dental work done last week. I knew that I would be vulnerable to an attack of deep depression so every time I had to cleanse my mouth, I would not look in the mirror. Just feeling around with my tongue was bad enough. The hulk of depression sits waiting outside my conscious mind. It’s a dark cloud shaped form of darkest intensity. It’s just sitting, waiting, not saying a word; just by making its appearance known is enough to raise my threat level to bright orange. However; I am better equipped to deal with it. God gave me a hammer. In my mind I see my hammer as a silver slick little claw shaped hammer. If the hulk tries to reach in, I can take my hammer and whack it good. I know one day, we, the Lord and I, will take on that mon ster, me with my hammer and just pound it to pieces so little it becomes dust and is blown into the sea, never to exist again. My hammer is the knowledge that Jesus has defeated the enemy forever and as soon as that knowledge penetrates my whole being, the chemicals in my brain will be able to keep me whole and well. I was going to end this post right here but I had a call from someone who battles depression as I do. I started to bed but I told the Lord I wanted to write to help someone else. The old song “If had a hammer, I’d hammer in the morning, I’d hammer in the evening all over this land. I’d hammer out hammer out danger, I’d hammer out warning, I’d hammer out love between my brothers and sisters all over this land.” I think I changed out the wording somewhat but that’s what came to me. I was talking to God about this and He said, “You have the Hammer of God to come against the enemy depression. Look up the hammer in the Bible and read.” I did. From the living Bible it says, Jeremiah 50:21-25, go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Yes march against Babylon, the land of rebels, a land that I will judge! Annialate them, as I have commanded you. Let there be a shout of battle in the land, a shout of great destruction. Babylon, the mightiest hammer in all the earth, lies broken and shattered. Babylon is desolate among the nations! O Babylon, I have set a trap for you and you are caught, for you fought against the Lord. The Lord has opened his armory and brought out weapons to explode his wrath upon his enemies.” The word Merathaim means of believers come together and pound and resist the Double Bitterness and Punishments Double Bitterness and Pekod means punishment. In reading the God of War by Greg Boyd, we understand a war is going on fiercer than we can imagine. The hammer is so mighty that in the hands of his believers we will knock out Babylon, spiritually. We as one body, we’ve had to endure punishmentsat the hands of our enemies which are every evil thing upon the earth. Everywhere there is injustice is Babylon. Pride and greed have run the Babylon world system and Babylon is all over, in every nation. We speak of the Spiritual Battle that God has asked, and is equipping us, to join with Him in battle but the first step is ridding ourselves of this horrible corruption. “Oh, Lord create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Love ALWAYS, Norma
