Are You Dressed Appropriately To Church
Many times, we walk in to the Church and somehow feel totally out of place. Have you felt that you lacked that spark that you once had? The fire that ignited your passion for God; where is that incredible joy and outstanding peace that you experienced even as you embraced the salvation knowledge of Jesus Christ. You suddenly feel so lost, and God seems a million miles away. Have you ever wondered why?
Let me explain why! The Lord’s house is a privileged house! Like any other power house, the Church too has a dress code. The question is, are you dressed appropriately?
Psalms 24:3-4
Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hand and a pure heart
1. Clean hands
Psalms 18:20
The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands He has rewarded me.
It doesn’t mean properly cut nails and soap washed hands. Clean hands are hands free from external acts of sin (1 Timothy 2:8)
What kind of jobs do your hands do from Monday to Saturday? It not only means keeping away from detestable things but also disciplining yourself. It helps to sleep early on Saturday nights, so that you are fresh and ready to worship in the Lord’s house on Sunday mornings. Not so if you are busy watching television late into the night only to wake up just in time for the message.
2. Pure heart
Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
It doesn’t mean carrying a lovely smile on Sunday mornings. A pure heart refers to the inward holiness. A pure heart is one that is not defiled by unforgiveness, greed, lust, jealously, pride, having no hidden agenda, or bad motive. It does not mean being involved in good works; but also preparation. Would you not prepare yourself before you attend a business meet? How much more to the God’s house. Preparation means waking up early to spend time in prayer and enter with an attitude of worship before you even enter the Church. God honors those who are ever ready. Take a minute to look at your hands this morning, are they clean? Close your eyes for a minute and examine your heart, is it pure?
Have a blessed SONday!!
