Chivalry is not dead in this neck of the woods!
Ladies, why is it that we still don't know anything about cars yet? The only women i ever see that know about cars are in the Fast and Furious movies! Sounding sexist to myself and all other females, but what is it that makes us think that we will never be stranded with a blown tire and/or dead battery in a dark place at night--always alone somehow?
I'm guilty of not knowing how to change tires or what is means for a tire to be mounted. Brian started talking about this and i thought he was talking dirty. It wasn't until i saw it actaully being done that i understood and blushed in the process. But yes, this all happened to me on Wednesday.
The best part was that i knew the tire was flat, but like the feisty chick i am, i threw my shoulders back and said to my dying tire (the threads were completely through the rubber--i know now that this is a bad thing), "You will serve me or else, by god! We're going to meet Brian for lunch!" Ok, so the tire decided "or else" because 85% of the way to the mall, it made a scary noise while i rolled up on a stoplight. I could almost feel the car sink down. Suddenly, I knew that the tire had decided to rebel against me and give up the ghost.
I looked around frantically like a rat running around a maze smelling that cheese but seeing it not! I about ran over a pedestrian in the Atlanta Bread Company parking lot that miraculously appeared to my left as i pulled in to escape the road and all its terrors for a broken-down woman. I didn't get out of the car because we all know that rapists and crazy people attack once you get out of the car ;-) so, I text Brian right about then and asked him if he wanted to be my hero because the evil tire dragon had me trapped in a parking lot. He didn't text back for almost twenty minutes, so i hid in my car and felt helpless.  Nothing worse than feeling helpless, especially in this day and time. Women today are supposed to be like the Spartan soldiers of old and strong and brave and completely self-reliant.
Finally, after about thirty minutes, I relinquished my feisty Spartan self when i saw his fancy-shmancy car fly around the corner and zoom into the parking lot where i was. I felt like the princess in the tower, lol! He whirled into the free space next to me and bounced out of his car. I rose from my seat of shame and plastered a sheepish smile across my face.
He just smiled back and said, "Sorry it took so long--everyone kept coming in when i tried to leave!"
I clasped my hands together and batted my eyes. "My hero!" I exclaimed.
A sweet kiss followed as the audience of ABC customers pretended like they'd never seen a damsel in distress before. He stepped on the tire. Hissing followed. I halfway looked around for a snake.
He replied, "Well, that tire's done."
I shrugged.
"You can't pump it up?"
He laughed.
"Baby, no! It has a huge hole in it now. Didn't you hear that hissing?"
"Oh."
I kicked the tire vengefully.
He laughed and took my hand.
"C'mon. Let's eat. I have to go back to work in twenty minutes for twenty minutes! What we might have to do is I might have to take you to work today and we'll get you a tire tomorrow when we're both off. Would you mind waiting for me until i get off work? You could go to Ross's?"
Does an alchoholic like to drink? Yes, so a shop-o-holic likes to shop. That means i'll HAVE to SHOP at Ross's next door to his work until he gets off work at 3....Suddenly, a future of flat tires isn't looking so flat. :-)

Lol! You are such a good writer, that was pretty funny, and interesting to read at the same time!

Anyways, sorry to hear about your flat tire, but it seems you aren't! Ah, well. Gotta look at the bright side, hm! Good luck! :)

I as well got a flat tire last week. On my way to church, of all places. I didn't feel like laying in the wet snow on the side of the road and changing it so I called a friend and he helped me load my truck on a trailer. i patched the tire good enought to drive it to the shop. $180 later-for one tire!
