Three straight "off" days!!! Such richness, and now it's almost over.
It started on Saturday, which was very interesting. I had a job interview, possibly the weirdest and the best interview experience I've ever had. Well, I don't mean that I did great (I can't really tell), but it was such a memorable experience because I found the place all by myself when usually I have my dad drive me to these things so I don't get there late. I have a poor sense of direction so there's some chance that I might not even get there haha!
Everything was closed because it was holy week so I was worried that I might have gotten the date wrong but no, I had just gotten there before everybody else- I was actually early! The secretary arrived about 15 minutes after the scheduled time and the interviewer didn't get in until about 2 hours later. Luckily, the security guard let me in even though he had no idea I had an appointment.
I was already thinking of walking out but the secretary had been so nice and the offices looked like business was doing very well so I thought I'd try to stick it out and maybe something good might happen- who knows, right? I'd already wasted half the day anyway.
Shortly thereafter I learned a very valuable lesson: Patience is a virtue!
The person who did the interview looked like he was head of the company. He said the company doctor was supposed to do it but he was sick (he laughed at this). He was an old Chinese gentleman, and I think he was a little disappointed that I wasn't Chinese. His secretary was Chinese as well, and I think they were expecting me to be one because of my last name.
It was a very easy interview, since he just asked about my background and he couldn't ask anything medical, I suppose, because he wasn't the doctor. Then he asked the secretary to bring me lunch and I tried to refuse at first. Good thing they were very firm 'coz the food was delish! And served in fine china.
Then when I was leaving, the secretary handed me an envelope and she said that her employer wanted me to have it. I thought it was a polite version of a "Don't call us" but it turned out to be a single, very crisp P1,000 note!!! I was so shocked I kept peeking at it all the way home. Still haven't gotten it out of the envelope. I don't think I have the heart to spend it... he had been so kind. He reminded me of my grandfather, when things had been better.
I wish I can say that I think i've gotten the job but... I really cannot speak a word of Chinese. Well, except thank you, I think.
Sunday was spent bickering with my family about where to pray and where to eat. By now, I'm actually excited about going back to work (and still a little bit anxious). I really hope I can have a more creative and bold approach this week because there are a lot of newbies coming in, and they're very competitive.

I'm not sure how much P300 or P1000 is but if it's free I'll take it.
