Some one else trash is anothers treasure
The other day it was trash day.  I had noticed a couple's large rubbish pile heaping over on to the public street.  Something stirred up in me.  Why had I become upset?  I noticed "good things that other people still could possibly use.  There was  a child's stroller, car seat and many non broken non damaged items and a tv.  I will refer to the tv later.

I just couldn't understand why these people didn't want to share their leftover goods to someone who could of been in need of them.  To make matters worse they threw these items in the pouring rain.  Now, things that could have been saved now are ruined.

Was I alone on this plight? I wasn't sure.  I have always given to good will and food shelters and such.  When we make our trips to goodwill they always hand out those tax right off slips and I never taken one.  Why?  to me a donation is a donation.  I don't want anything back.  It was a gift with no strings attached.  Okay, veering off subject a bit.

Why do some people give with their leftovers and others trash them?  To me it just sounds like some degree of selfishness.  As if to say I am done with this, you can't have it so am going to throw it out.  You will not be able to possibly enjoy it or even potentially use it.  Am I taking this too seriously?

Back to the tv.  People we are not to throw old tv and computers into landfills.  They must be properly disposed of.  They contain hazardous materials that need special care and cannot be lumped with other junk.

I guess I am trying to be a good steward to this earth.  I might be leaning to the more organic, fun loving sun shining environmentalist side but, this earth is on loan to us.  I want to try to take good care of what we all have been given.

Some people don't think about somebody else using stuff. Some don't want to hassle with taking it to the donation spot. Some people just don't care, and some people put stuff out hoping somebody will take it away! LoL, although obviously putting it in the rain was a poor choice. These people most likely belonged to the people that didn't care (although I can't say that for sure.)

My family and I always donate all of our clothes, toys, furniture, etc. if it's in good enough shape to be used by another. I go to Goodwill or thrift stores a lot of times before I go elsewhere (although not for everything, I have my limits) I do it because I want other people to benefit and because if I was in need I would want to have access to things too. Sometimes a little wear doesn't make a bit of difference.

My family is also organic and we are (trying) to grow our own vegetables.

I agree, we should do our part. Even if you don't look at it like earth is on loan to us, we have to live here. Why purposefully abuse and/or destroy our own living environment?

I think that is great you are going to grow your own food. I keep trying to grow my house plant but, I keep killing it. I think it is just going to take awhile to grow a green thumb.

If everyone did there part this earth and world would be a lot better. But, keep trying anyway, those naysayers have got to open their eyes and ears one day!!
