| A barrel of skinny monkeys |
Every morning at work I sneak past the receptionists desk and peak at the front page of our local paper. Today plastered on the cover were disturbing pictures of two monkeys. The first monkey was very skinny and the other kind of chubby and wrinkling. So, I thought oh no I hate when they show pictures about animal testing.
It's like when papers and magazines display death pictures. When reporters are reporting on a severe storm and they are right in the middle of a funnel cloud. Why do the do that anyways?
I made a comment to the receptionist about how this picture will ruin my whole day. She announced "better them, then me getting tested on. It's for our benefit." I was shocked and snapped back animals are not disposable they have life running through their bodies. They were also created by God. Why are we so superior to them? I guess that is why I went semi-vegetarian at the begging of this year.
But, to my surprise the article was talking about the skinny monkey being on a calorie restricted diet and the other monkey was on a normal diet. Can you believe the study was done to test how calorie restricted diet affects how fast we age. The thin monkey had less wrinkles and the normal fed monkey looked like a sharpie dog. Are we so vain that we are doing silly studies on this subject. Like there are not any more brilliant ideas to be researching.
Last time I checked we can't stop aging or the inevitable death. I am all for health but I think this study well lacks an important plot.
