NEW YORK (Reuters) - Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt
Kemp and Colorado Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba have been
suspended for their roles in a fight that triggered a
bench-clearing brawl, Major League Baseball said Thursday.
The shoving match between Kemp and Torrealba occurred
Tuesday night during the eighth inning of the Rockies' 3-0
victory at Dodger Stadium.
Kemp has been suspended for four games for fighting and
"inciting" the bench-clearing incident, Bob Watson, baseball's
Vice President of On-Field Operations, said in a statement.
Torrealba has been suspended for three games for fighting
with Kemp, Watson said. Both players were fined undisclosed
amounts.
Unless appealed, Kemp's suspension was scheduled to begin
Thursday when the Dodgers hosted the Chicago Cubs. Torrealba's
suspension was set to begin Friday, when the Rockies face the
Milwaukee Brewers at Coors Field in Denver.
