ARLINGTON, Texas (Reuters) - Ryan Garko drove in six runs
to guide the Cleveland Indians to a 15-9 victory over the Texas
Rangers on Wednesday.
It was a good night for both offenses, who have produced 65
runs in the first three games of their four-game series.
"It's just a fun kind of opportunity," Garko told
reporters. "It's the opposite of Cleveland. In Cleveland, the
wind is blowing in from right-center every day and it's
freezing cold. You just want to go out and get a bat in your
hands because it's hot and the ball will carry."
Indians starter Cliff Lee tied for an American League best
with his ninth win, despite allowing six runs in five innings.
Cleveland pounded out a season-best 17 hits and chased
Rangers starter Sidney Ponson after four innings and six runs.
Rangers reliever Elizardo Ramirez (0-1) replaced Ponson and
allowed nine runs in 2 2/3 innings for the loss.
Garko hit a two-run single in the sixth inning giving the
Indians an 8-6 lead before Dave Dellucci followed with a
three-run home run to deep right field two batters later.
Garko added another two-run single in the seventh, when the
Indians scored four runs.
Milton Bradley led the Rangers with three RBIs. Bradley's
two-run shot to centre field sparked a four-run third inning
for the Rangers.
"We're not pitching right now," said Rangers second baseman
Ian Kinsler. "We're swinging the bats well. We have to have
them both together."
Indians centre fielder Grady Sizemore hit his 12th home run
of the season.
