Wall Street opens higher on data, Bernanke

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks rose at the open on Tuesday after U.S. President Barack Obama renominated Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve and data showed home prices rose in June for a second straight month.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 31.06 points, or 0.33 percent, to 9,540.34. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 3.89 points, or 0.38 percent, to 1,029.46. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> rose 6.58 points, or 0.33 percent, to 2,024.56.
