Good Afternoon, Milwaukee---Hello, My Peeps---this is Cork-----
So much for me getting off work early---didn't make it! Have you heard the latest news about the military invasion in New York City? Well, I haven't either---must just be a rumor!
Anywhooooooo---I got the paychecks signed and passed out and my employees are happy!I have to remember to stop at the ATM to get some cash so I will have some money for the weekend!
My dear, sweet Breath wants to go out to eat this evening---seafood, she says. There is a restraunt on the waterfront called 'Pieces of Eight' that is pretty good. I called and we can get a table at 8:00 tonight, so that should work out well. MUST remember to wear my new watch!
Since the first of the month, I was able to rent some adjoining office space at the new office site on the NE side. I have created a day care center and health clinic---quite a small scale operation---but, I think it will work. I am offering day care to employees that I can place on jobs, so they can feel more free to work and to STAY ON THE JOB! I hired two women with intern degrees/training in child welfare from a local college to manage the day care. They are doing very well. We have had nine children during the day so far. I would like to see an expansion to cover second shift work as well, in the future.
Breath is a registered nurse and she will run the small health care clinic, two days a week. She is quite excited about it and more than qualified for treating sniffles, colds, cuts and bruises---this is what a local drugstore chain called Walgreens, here in the city is doing. She can prescribe over-the-counter drugs and offer physician referrals. This service, as well as the day care is offered free to employees. I have contracted stipends from clients that I provide employees to and can also claim some tax benefit programs, as well. My big idea is to soon add a van service to some outlaying areas so more people can get to work. It is really sad that the county Metro transit system has been cutting routes to these areas. Additional insurance may get expensive. I think I can work it out.
I have to get out of here---head for the house---get ready to relax!
Thanks for your ears---from Milwaukee---this is Cork.
