 Sept. 27th - Shuhe
Today we woke up still very, very sore and to the sound of rain.  I guess I couldn't be lucky the entire trip.  We've had perfect weather so far so a little rain and a little cooler weather wasn't too bad.  Neither one of us got out of bed before 10 today but we did manage to get up to eat around 11.

We went to another small place we had eatten at once that is just a family's home with part of it turned in to a restaurant.  We had some spicy chicken, some kind of green vegetable and an egg dish that's popular in China that is really just their version of an omelette.  All of it was great, as always.  The chicken was so good that Vivi asked the lady if we could come back for dinner and she can show us how to prepare it.  Vivi thought the lady would say no but I've learned that most of the Chinese restaurant owners are happy to share their secrets with foreigners, but not the Chinese.

After lunch, we walked around for a little bit and again, made our way down to the stream-side cafes and enjoyed more banana milk.  We went and bought a deck of cards and made our way back to the room so I could teach Vivi some American card games.  Of course, the first one I taught was Rummy, which we always play on vacation, especially if it's raining and it's keeping everyone in.

She instantly fell in love with the game because she beat me the first one.  Of course, I beat her the next couple but all that mattered is that we had a way of entertaining ourselves while it was raining outside.

We ended up playing for a couple hours and realized it was time for dinner.  We ate at a little stand we've eatten at a couple times now where they make these noodle bowls that are just amazing and they're less than $1.  So very, very good.

We walked around for a little bit and made our way back to the little restaurant from lunch.  The lady recognized us and got very excited we had returned.  She had to call her husband in to prepare the chicken.  Both were very nice and even told us what to do and everything they put in.  It was pretty simple, as I assumed, but it did contain over 10 ingredients which I wouldn't have known all had he not told me they were in there.  After a couple tries, I think I should be able to prepare this chicken and it'll be very good.

After dinner, we were very full and just made our way back to the hostel.  It's still raining and as soon as I'm done writing here, I'm going to take my shower and go to bed.  Hopefully tomorrow morning all the soreness will be gone and so will the rain.

If it's not raining tomorrow, we're going to go to another ancient city, even less commercialized than here.  We're also going to go to a park where they say one of the best pictures of China can be taken, if it's not raining.

If it's raining, we're staying in Shuhe for another night because it's very easy to be lazy in this village.
