Today is a pretty nice day. It's in the 50's and the sun is actually out in full force. Today I finally broke down and got my first haircut while in China. I brought clippers with me to shave my own head but unfortunately those got fried because every outlet in China is 220V and that's just too much. I wandered around a little bit through the "alleys" to find a place. I've seen a ton of them before so I had an idea where to find them. I finally found one that looked good so I walked in, and of course knowing no Chinese, sat down. A girl came up to me and said some things in Chinese so I smiled and made the action of cutting with my hands. I guess that was good enough. She then slammed my chair back and started massaging my head. She did this for about 10 minutes then mixed in shampoo and continued to massage for another 10 minutes. Next, she mixed in some conditioner and massaged for another 10 minutes. I love a good head massage so this was just heaven. Finally, she rinsed it all out and began massaging my neck, back, shoulders, arms and hands. It took probably another 30 minutes for all of this. Then I was passed off to the actual barber who shaved my head for me. Instead of using guards, like in the US, he simply used a comb and clippers. He did an absolute perfect job, I must say. Next, I received my first ever shave with an actual razor blade. I wasn't expecting this but it wasn't bad. Unfortunately, he didn't use a sharp enough razor because once he got around my chin it felt like he was pulling each hair out with tweezers so that hurt a little bit but only while he was doing it. I have to say that this is the smoothest my face has ever been since I was 15.
If tomorrow's a nice day again I'll take some pictures of the area so you can see what I see everyday. Hope everyone's doing well.
