| longest 31 hours of my life |
So I have arrived in Dongguan city and everything's great. My flight from San Francisco to Hong Kong was extremely rough due to 5 hours of turbulence. I made it without getting sick, barely, so it was a success. There was some mix ups with the buses getting from the airport to my pickup point but I walked in to my apartment at 1:30 am local time and went straight to sleep.
Dongguan city is extremely big. It has about 12 million people living here and everyone lives in high rises. There are no real driving laws, just suggestions that nobody pays attention to anyways. A red traffic light is merely a decoration. The food here is great. It's a little like Chinese food in America except all the meat served has bones in it, except occasionally a pork dish. I went to Wal-Mart yesterday to get a few extra items for my apartment and was surprised how cheap everything is. The nicest surprise was finding dvds of American movies that had not been released in theatres yet or still in theatres all for at most $1. All the teachers I've met so far are very friendly and have done everything they can to make me feel comfortable and help me around the city.
I'll post another blog soon with pictures of my apartment and a couple from around the city.
